it was the time nobody was excited for, summer was officially over and school was starting back up again. the Pogues dreaded going back and knew this year would suck for them. Kiara and Caroline went to the mall to buy some new clothes while Pope and JJ were trying to pick up their schedules. Caroline ended up staying at Kildare high, her parents denied the request the Kook Academy had sent them and thought it'd be better for her to stay at Kildare with JJ and Pope. their shopping trip was pretty short since they really didn't need to buy anything, just shoes and jeans and a few tops.
when the girls were done they went back home to organize their things and rest a bit before going to the beach to just hang out. Caroline folded the last of her jeans looking in the mirror seeing how long her hair was, getting an idea she went to her bathroom grabbing the scissors and cut her hair up to her shoulders which she surprisingly did a great job.
a few hours had passed and Caroline made her way downstairs with her keys and wallet in her hand. her parents turned their heads doing a double take not recognizing their daughter.
"Caroline, your hair!" her mother said standing up walking over to her daughter.
"is it uneven? damn it." Caroline groaned running her fingers through her hair.
"no, kiddo. it looks great. we're just a bit shocked." her father laughed standing up.
"oh, thanks. i thought it was time to switch it up." she muttered looking at her keys.
"you going somewhere?" he asked.
"yeah i'm meeting up with JJ at the beach then we're going to 'the wreck' to eat with Pope and Kiara." she said, her parents nodded kissing the top of her head.
"can JJ spend the night? he's been sleeping at Pope's for a few days and the château needs a cleaning." she added.
her parents nodded and smiled, Caroline gave them both a kiss on the cheek and a kiss to her brother on his forehead rushing out the door. she grabbed her surfboard tying it to the roof of her car and drove down to the beach. when she arrived she took off her shoes tossing them to the backseat of her jeep, climbing out she opened the back door taking off her t shirt and shorts leaving her in her bikini. she slipped on her jacket untying the surfboard. once she had all her things she walked down to the sand looking for JJ.
she spotted the blonde sitting on the sand with his surfboard next to him, smiling she tossed her board down running over to him wrapping her arms around his neck from behind. JJ jumped turning his head smiling once he saw her, he pulled her over his shoulder as she landed on his lap. she leaned in for a kiss when he moved his head back to look at her hair.
"what?"
"you cut your hair." he said running his fingers through her now short hair.
"yeah, it was too long." she said, "do you like it?"
