Samir's POV

"Hmmmm," I groaned moving around under my sheets. I didn't have any plans for today, even though it was my birthday, 1/19. For one my birthday was during the week which is mad rank so I really can't do much because my peoples are at school.

Plus, I told everyone not to do anything because that's what I was used to. I don't remember the last time I really celebrated my birthday.

Usually I'd just go out with Gunk to the city or just stay in my room.

Which is what I was doing now because I'm at my dad's place. I wanted to stay at my aunts house for my birthday but he wouldn't let me. I was pissed about it before but what can I even do? So I sucked it up. Went to bed at 8pm and I ain't been up since.

Both my dad and his wife were home. So I was most def gonna either stay locked in my room or stay out all night.

Overall my 17th birthday is already a bust.

And now I couldn't even get comfortable in my bed. So I ripped of my sheets and looked around my room.

But it wasn't like it usually was. No way I'm this deep of a sleeper...

Balloons and a streamers were set up around my room. My desk had some gifts on it. And around my bed stood Kori, Gunk, Katrina, Iyanna and Sayna.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMIRRR!!!!" They all yelled as I sat up.

"Shouldn't y'all be at school?" I asked scratching my head.

"It's your birthday and the first thing you do is ask about us? Samir..." Gunk said crossing his arms at me.

"My fault. Thank you guys, this is really new. I'm not really used to celebrating my birthday, so this is really sweet of you guys." I smiled getting out of my bed. I really didn't know how to react.

To most this would be expected and simple. But for me this is extravagant as hell and I don't know how to really express my gratitude. I hope they know my appreciation though.

"Hugs!" Sayna exclaimed, and in a matter of seconds I was in a big ass group hug.

"This means a lot. You guys didn't have to do all this for me." I said as we were all still squashed together.

"Of course we had to do it for you. It's your birthday! That's an important ass day Samir." Kori said.

"Exactly. Gotta celebrate your day bro," Iyanna added.

"It's your 17th Sam. It matters, you deserve to celebrate and enjoy your day," Katrina continued.

"Yeah your birthday is important!" Sayna exclaimed.

"Had to do something for you. You're like a brother to me, we been through it." Gunk added before we finally separated.

"Ya got me here crying and shit," I laughed wiping away my tears.

"Samir..." Kori said walking over to give me a hug.

I don't know what she said but when I opened my eyes again my door was locked and it was just me and Kori.

I lifted my head from her shoulder and she had her looked at me a little worried. Then she grabbed a tissue and started wiping away my tears.

"I'm really happy with everything. I'm just not used to it. I promise I-" I started to say but when Kori paused from wiping my face I stopped talking.

"Samir, relax. You're not in trouble or anything. I know why you reacted the way you did and it's okay." She reassured me putting her hand up to my face.
