Kori's POV

10 years later...

"Your mommy is the best Mahari." I heard as I started to wake up. It was still dark outside, but I was so used to him waking me up that my body does it on command now.

"My love, go back to sleep." Samir said as I sat up.

"But the baby," I replied rubbing my eyes.

"He's good, look he's taking his bottle." I looked over at his arms where the small night light was illuminating, to see him feeding Mahari. I couldn't help but smile, he was so adorable.

"Thank you bebe." I replied leaning on his arm.

"You're welcome...now go back to sleep it's 4am."

"But-

"But nothing. You need sleep more and he's perfectly fine. I know you're always on edge but you gotta let me take care of you sometimes. And my first act of order is that you get some sleep." Honestly I couldn't argue with him. One, because I was high key too tired to argue. And two, because what he was saying was true.

"Okay Mr.Eshadi, whatever you say," I smiled and he did too before I laid back down in our bed. He stroked the side of my face until I knocked out for however long I could until the baby woke up.

"WAHHHHHHH," those three hours felt like nothing.

"Good morning my baby," I grumbled, forcing myself to get up and pick him up from the bassinet.

"It's okay, mommy's here." I said bouncing him on my side waiting for him to relax.

Teenage me always had dreams about where I am now. I just never really believed things would fall into place like I'd imagined.

Staying with Samir even while attending separate colleges. Graduating college and moving into our first apartment. Working our asses off and still making time for one another. Getting engaged and getting our priories together. Not having to work our asses off as much and getting married. And to today, where we have moved into our first house and have a little 3 month old human taking up room.

I feel like I was just 15 and a sophomore going to school everyday doing my same routine. It hasn't felt like 12 years have passed since I was 15.

As humans we truly do take time for granted.

"Let's get you ready for the day," I said as I changed his diaper. Once he was good I went on to brush my teeth quickly before he got restless.

Luckily I finished just in time and could go downstairs to get us both something to consume.

"Samir?" I asked confused as I started down the steps seeing him in the kitchen, fixing up a bottle.

"Good morning Kori and baby," he smiled as I sped down the stairs.

"You didn't tell me you weren't going in to work today." I said as I reached him.

"It was a surprise. I made breakfast, Mahari's bottle, and cleaned up down here because it was looking a lil rough."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled leaning in to kiss me lightly.

"Mahari says thank you too," I continued turning him to face Samir.
