A/N: "Closer" By Chainsmokers
Keefe's POV:
Fitzy's belly flop was hilarious, but when Foster gave it a try—oh my gosh, hers was flawless! Everyone was left in complete shock.
"What the heck was that Sophie?" Marella asks, her voice filled with awe, as she is getting out of the pool.
She laughs, water dripping from her hair as she shakes it out. "I... I don't know." She looks over at me, my stunned expression quickly turns into a wide grin.
"That was awesome, Foster. Seriously." My voice is full of admiration, and my heart gives a little flutter. It's just a dive. But it feels like more. A sign, maybe, that things are finally starting to align in a way that feels right.
She tries to brush it off. "I guess I just had a good moment."
Dex laughs from the edge of the pool. "That was a good moment? I think you just broke the laws of physics."
Biana and Fitz are still laughing, but I don't miss the way Fitz keeps glancing at Sophie, an unreadable expression crossing his face. I wonder if he's going to say something, or if he's just going to leave it at that.
I brush it off and elbow her gently, my grin not fading. "We should do that again sometime. You know, for the fans."
She laughed. "For the fans, huh? I think you might be overestimating my abilities, but sure."
She's so beautiful, with her gorgeous brown eyes flecked with gold and her lovely blonde hair. I've missed her so much, and I'm beyond glad she's back in my life. All the pain and hurt from being apart were replaced with relief and my deep love for her.
Linh, Dex, and Tam did their dives, and after voting, Biana came up with a new contest.
"Since Sophie obviously won that contest," Biana said, "how about we partner up and see which pair can get down the speed slides the fastest?"
"I call Foster," I said, grabbing her before anyone else could. She smiled and walked over to me. Biana rolled her eyes playfully.
"I guess I'll take Dex," Biana said, walking toward him. I could tell she almost picked Foster, but I called dibs first—she's my favorite. The rest of us paired up: Tam with Marella and Fitz with Linh.
We gathered at the top of the speed slides, and Biana turned to us with the stopwatch in hand.
"Who wants to go first?" she asked.
"Me and Biana can," Dex said.
"Alright, pick your slides." They selected their slides and got into position.
"On your mark, get set, GO!" Marella shouted, starting the stopwatch as Dex and Biana launched down the slide. They both reached the bottom simultaneously, clocking a time of 45 seconds.
Next up: Marella and Tam. Linh took the stopwatch.
"Ready, set, GO!" Marella and Tam shot down the slide, finishing in 35 seconds.
Biana came back up and took the stopwatch back. Now it was Foster and me.
"Ready, on your mark, get set, GO!" I launched myself down the slide. At the bottom, I sat up, grinning.
"Whew, that was fun," Foster said.
"Sure was. Let's see what our time is." Together, we walked back up the stairs.
"So, what was our time?" I asked Biana.
"You and Sophie got 25 seconds."
"Nice. First place!" I high-fived Foster. Linh and Fitz finished in 40 seconds. We won! Yeehaw! I guess those runs earlier helped us prepare. Glad we did them.
