A/N: "True Colors" (Trolls) Piano Cover Riyandi Kusuma
Keefe's POV:
I halt the dancing, my heart pounding with anticipation. "Foster. Wanna sneak away for a minute?" I ask, lowering my voice just enough to make it feel like a secret.
She tilts her head, curiosity flashing in her warm eyes. "Sure," she says without hesitation.
Perfect. "Come on, then. I want to show you something beautiful."
We slip out of the crowded room, moving like shadows through the halls until we finally step outside. The air is cool against my skin as we wander into a secluded garden. A pond, shimmering blue under the starlight, reflects the delicate greenery surrounding it. Sophie and I settle onto a wooden bench tucked beneath an alcove of trees, the world quiet except for the whisper of the wind.
She exhales softly. "Oh, Keefe. This is beautiful."
"I'm glad you like it, Foster." I glance at the pond, memories stirring. "I found this place not long after I got here. I guess moving was harder than I thought it would be. I kept wondering if I'd ever belong, if this would turn out just like my last school—another place where I never quite fit."
"Seems like it wasn't," she says, her gaze locking onto mine.
I smile, the answer clear. "No. Because I found you."
A blush colors her cheeks, and something shifts between us—something deep and unspoken.
"I missed you a lot, you know," I continue, my voice dipping lower. "All those years without you... they hurt more than I can explain. There were nights I thought I wouldn't make it, that I'd never see you again. At some point, even my parents convinced me it was true. But look how wrong they were—you're right here. Not just in my dreams. In front of me."
She nods, her eyes shining. "It was the same for me. I lost count of how many times I cried, how many hours I spent wishing you were still here. I didn't have your voice encouraging me. Didn't feel your arms around me. All I had were memories, old pictures, a few videos of us together. And those were great, but they weren't you." Her breath catches, and she looks away for a moment before meeting my gaze again. "But then I saw you. After all these years. And my heart felt complete. That awful ache just... disappeared."
My chest tightens, and before I can stop myself, I reach for her hand. "Oh, Foster." I squeeze her fingers lightly. "Saying that name again feels so real. So right. Now that you're back, I don't ever want to let you go again. You and me—we stay together. To the very end. Always being each other's heroes."
She smiles. "Definitely."
I take a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. "Sophie. I need to tell you something."
She tilts her head slightly, curiosity flickering in her gaze. "What's that, Keefe?"
"You," I say, my voice soft but sure, "are the most precious thing to my heart. Being your best friend, going on all those adventures, creating memories together—it was the best time of my life. And now that we're reunited, I want more. More moments, more laughter, more memories. Sophie, you are my whole world—my beautiful princess, my Sophie Foster."
Her breath hitches, and I press on.
"I promise I'll never let you go. Never let you think you're alone in this. No matter what, I won't stop fighting for you. I'll keep holding on for dear life, standing by your side through every storm, every sleepless night, every challenge that comes our way. Even when it hurts. It's us against the world, and I'll always be here—by your side."
