Sophie Foster's childhood was magical filled with her best friend that she has known since she was three years old and a happy family nothing in her mind could destroy it. Until things took an unexpected turn.

Driving down to the amusement park, excitement bubbles up inside me. Today is going to be unforgettable—I get to celebrate my birthday surrounded by friends, and most importantly, Keefe. We had this fun idea to recreate childhood memories here and compare them later. Some are downright hilarious, while others are just plain adorable. One that stands out is the time six-year-old Keefe kissed my five-year-old cheek, both of us clutching melting ice cream cones. It was sweet then, and even sweeter to think about now.
After finding a parking spot, we pile out of the car, energy buzzing through our little group as we make our way to the entrance. Once we get there, we pause to go over the plan.
"How about we split up for a little bit and meet up at the main fountain later? Then we can ride some coasters together," I suggest.
"Sounds good to me!" Everyone nods in agreement, and just like that, we scatter—Dex and Biana pairing up, Linh, Tam, and Marella sticking together as twins and friends. And of course, that leaves me with Keefe. Fitz bailed today, claiming he had a date with Elizabeth. Whatever. I've got everything I need right here.
Keefe grins mischievously. "Foster. Wanna start with the biggest coaster?"
"Oh yeah. Let's do it!" I smirk, and we dash toward one of the tallest, wildest rides in the park. The line moves quickly, and before we know it, we're strapping in. I glance at Keefe once my seatbelt and lap bar are secured.
"Ready?"
"Oh yeah, Foster. I was born ready."
The ride jerks forward, slowly making its ascent up the towering first hill. Anticipation crackles in the air. Then, we reach the top—and everything blurs into motion. The coaster plunges into thrilling drops, twists, and turns, wind roaring past us.
"LET'S GOOO! THIS IS SO FUN!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
"YEEHAW! BEST DAY EVER!" Keefe shouts beside me, laughter spilling out between his words.
Adrenaline courses through me, the same rush I felt when I was a kid riding this very coaster. I haven't set foot in this park since Keefe left, and for a moment, that thought flickers through my mind. But today isn't about the past. It's about now. And right now? I wouldn't trade this moment for anything.
The ride comes to an end, and both of us burst into laughter, adrenaline still buzzing through us.
"Whew, that was fun," I say, catching my breath. "How about 'Turn of the Century' next?"
Keefe grins. "Oh, absolutely."
We hop off the coaster and head toward the towering spin ride with swings attached. I settle into a single swing on the outer edge, while Keefe takes the one right next to me. As the ride lifts us into the air, I'm flooded with nostalgia. I remember how terrified I'd been the first time I rode this—until Keefe, being Keefe, tricked me into trying it. And of course, I ended up loving it. He has this uncanny ability to know exactly what I'll enjoy, never pushing me into anything that would actually overwhelm me.
Now that I'm older, I've grown to love so many rides here.
Keefe's POV:
This day has been nothing short of amazing. We've recreated old memories, made new ones, and I finally get to be here for Foster's birthday again. No more missing out while stuck in London.
We've ridden a ton of rides together, but the Ferris Wheel—it was special. Sitting at the very top, just the two of us, sharing a kiss with the city lights stretched out below... pure magic. Every kiss with her feels that way, like fireworks exploding in my chest, screaming: THIS IS THE GIRL FOR YOU, BRO.
As we step off the Ferris Wheel, I pull Foster into a tight hug.
"I love you, Foster."
She beams up at me. "I love you too, Keefe. So, so much."
Grinning, I press a kiss to her cheek, and she quickly snaps a photo—her smiling, me mid-kiss. Just as she's checking it, both of our phones buzz with a notification.

Queen Sparkles: Hey guys! Wanna meet up at the Carousel for our final ride before getting a birthday treat for Soph?
Fireheart: Yeah! We'll meet you there in a sec—Tam and Linh just got on 'Jumping Dragon'.
Fos-Boss: Me and Keefe will head there now—we just got off the Ferris Wheel.
Lord Hunkyhair: 😏 Yeah, we did.
Queen Sparkles: K. It's settled then! Me and Dex are on our way.
-End Group Chat-
I glance at Foster. "Let's go."
She takes my hand, and we weave through the crowd toward the slow sky ride. Since the Carousel is on the other side of the park, this is the best way to get there. Settling into the gondola together, we take another selfie and snap a picture of the sunset, its golden hues stretching across the horizon.
"This has been an incredible day, Foster. I'm so glad I didn't miss your birthday again."
She sighs contentedly. "Me too, Keefe. I'm glad you're back... and making up for lost time."
Being here with her, today of all days, it's like the time we spent apart never even happened. In every way that matters, we've always been together—our hearts constantly connected.
As we step off the ride, Foster suddenly whirls around with a playful gleam in her eyes.
"Race ya!"
She bolts ahead before I can react.
"Hey, wait for me!" I shout, charging after her.
We both reach the Carousel at the same time, breathless and laughing.
"TIE!" we exclaim in sync.
"JINX!" Again, perfectly timed.
Biana rolls her eyes but smirks. "Alright, lovebirds, come on."
The rest of our friends join us, and we pile onto the ride. Naturally, I take the horse next to Foster. As the music starts and the carousel spins, I know exactly what I'm about to do.
I tip my imaginary cowboy hat, throwing myself into full character.
"YEEHAW! Let's get a move on! Time to wrangle some cattle!"
Foster is completely losing it, clutching her stomach from laughing so hard.
Yeah... this has truly been the best day.
Happy birthday, my love. 🥰

"Makeovers?" Keefe scoffed behind them. "You girls sure know how to have fun. Maybe you could braid each others hair and giggle about boys while your at it." Keefe grinned "Actually, maybe that last part is a good idea. You could get the dirt on Foster, and figure out which guys make her heart go pitter-patter." -Keefe (KotLC)
