A/N: "Counting Stars" One Republic
Sophie's POV:
We were all sitting in the car, anticipation bubbling as we waited. The boys had driven us here, claiming they had something extra planned—something special for their dates in particular.
I finally got to meet Elizabeth, and she wasted no time making her intentions clear—Fitz was hers. She even shot me a pointed glare to make sure I got the message. Not that it mattered to me. I had a boyfriend now, so Fitz wasn't my concern anymore. Elizabeth could have him all she wanted. That chapter was closed. I was taken. 😊
Biana let out an exasperated sigh. "Okay, seriously—what on earth are those boys doing?"
"I don't know," Marella replied, equally frustrated.
Biana turned toward me.
I shrugged. "I don't know either. But from what it looks like, it's not a prank."
Still, with Keefe involved, he probably wished it were a prank. Hehe. But the way he looked at me before he left—the softness in his gaze, the way his fingers lingered on mine—I doubted it. No, this was something different. Something special. At least, I hoped it was.
The waiting was driving us all crazy, but after a few more minutes, the boys finally returned.
"Alright, ladies," Dex said, swinging the car door open. "Let's head down now."
Grateful to escape the stuffy car, I stepped out, and Keefe immediately took my hand. They led us down a path into a breathtaking scene. Twinkle lights shimmered overhead, casting a warm glow. Soft, romantic music played in the background, mingling with the scent of fresh greenery. It was magical.
Each boy guided his date to a separate spot, far enough apart that we couldn't hear what was being said between them. Keefe and I sat down on a bench, and he let out a slow, deep breath before speaking.
"Okay, Foster. I want you to read this first," he said, handing me a piece of paper filled with his familiar, messy-yet-endearing handwriting. "Then, I'll give you something special that I made for you when I was in London."
I glanced at him, warmth filling my chest, then lowered my eyes to the letter and began to read.
Dear My Lovely Foster,
Might as well start out with I love you—because I do. With all my heart. And that will never change.
Sophie, you're my hero. My special girl. I love everything about you—your smile, the way it lights up every room you step into. Your laugh, that wonderful, contagious sound that always gets me laughing along with you. Your beautiful brown eyes, those special golden flecks—I love watching them sparkle.
Your sheer determination—the way you fight for the people you love, unwilling to ever give up on them. And, of course, your adorable clumsiness.
It just means you get to fall into my arms more often. And now, I will always be there to catch you.
But above all, what I love most about you... is you. My beautiful Sophie Elizabeth Foster.
I love you for you.
Seeing you now—seeing your true colors shine through again, brighter than ever—it's like watching magic. A rainbow in the sky. I can see you happy. I can see you.
I've been thinking about our song. I sing it to myself every morning and night—I haven't lost my streak.
"I'll never ever let you go. Or let you go thinking you're on your own."
