WHILE FIVE AND ATHENA were having their wholesome coffee date, Diego was stood up top a river looking mysteriously into the distance, he pulled out his fathers monocle that Luther had been so desperately sure that whoever took it killed Reginald
Now Diego didn't kill his Father and would probably shake the hand of the person that did, but he merely took the monocle to save the one person in his life that had always been there for him. grace, he found the monocle on her after the funeral and knew Luther would lose his shit and do something irrational to her and he couldn't let that happen
As he dangled the monocle over the river he heard Luther's annoying voice in his head 'do you ever remember a single time that dad wasn't wearing his monocle?" he said to him as if he was a child
Tangled in a web of his own thoughts he almost didn't hear his brother call out from the backseat.

Diego let go of the monocle, letting it disappear into the water lost forever "gunshots reported on the 400 block of Milton Avenue, Griddys doughnuts" the woman spoke over Diego's stolen police radio he grabbed the radio and scurried back into the car
"Diego, thank you for joining us, we have decided on , drumroll, waffles"
"I'm gonna drop you of at the bus stop i gotta get back to work" klaus grin faded
"what breaking bones and cracking skulls?" he chuckled softly
"saving lives, baby" Diego added
"well, i guess it's frozen waffles again" he murmured to the man next to him

As Five pulled up to Vanya's apartment a million questions flooded his brain. They spacial jumped the two of them into her apartment and sat down on the table he decided to keep the light off for the time being so it would almost be like he was sleeping but mostly for dramatic effect.
"Is it really necessary for the light to be off?" she put her arms out trying to guide herself around Vanya's apartment
"Yes now stop stomping around you'll bump into something" he hummed
"I'll be fin-" there was a quiet bang that followed a series of quiet but angry mutterings of curse words
He scoffed "you hit your head, didnt you? What did I say?"
"Yea..but im fine so mind your business you buffoon"
"Shush she's here" he uttered
Vanya opened the door and went to turn the light on but five beat her to it "Jesus"
"you should have locks on your windows"
"i live on the second floor" she responded
"rapists can climb" he shrugged
she stared at him dumbfounded "you are so weird"
she shut the door and walked towards him, five shifted in his seat "Is that blood?"

"Why are you here?" she asked
"i've decided you're the only one i can trust"

"because your ordinary" he saw how Vanya's eyes fell and internally kicked himself along with Athena who actually kicked him"because you'll listen"he corrected
"okay" she said in a quiet voice. she retrieved some medical supplies for five and his strange little friend wound, he held his wrist out and noticed how she tensed at the sight of his arm
"when i jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what i found?" he explained
"no" she said in a quiet voice
"nothing, absolutely nothing" Five got flashbacks of all those years ago them he foolishly disobeyed his father and ended up in a wasteland of destruction
"As far as i could tell, i was the last person left alive, i never figured out what killed the human race but, i did find something else. the date it happens; the world ends in eight days and i have no idea how to stop it"
"i'll put on a pot of coffee" she nodded quickly walking away
