Becky's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm, groggily reaching for my phone to turn it off. Rubbing my eyes, I sat up in bed and stretched, feeling the stiffness in my muscles fade away. As I got out of bed, I looked around my room and smiled - it was good to be back in my own bed again.

As I was about to leave my room, I noticed the overflowing trash can filled with papers. I felt a pang of sadness as I realized that these were all ideas and solutions I had come up with but never used. Although it was a relief that the company was saved, it still hurt to know that I had to marry someone I didn't love when I had feelings for someone else - Sam.

Suddenly, my phone vibrated, and I saw a message from Sam asking if I had eaten breakfast yet. I couldn't help but smile - her simple gesture brightened my day but also added to my guilt. I knew that I was going to hurt Sam, and it pained me to think about it. She didn't deserve to be caught up in this situation, but I had no choice. I couldn't help but wonder how she would react once she found out that I was going to marry someone else.

As I went downstairs, I saw my parents eating in the kitchen. I joined them but remained silent.

After a while, Dad break the silence.

"Are you sure you're ready to marry someone you didn't even know, Becky?" my dad asked. I could see the worry in his eyes, but had no choice. I smiled and held my dad's hand,

"It's okay, Dad. I am okay with it. Don't worry," I said.

"You don't know how you make us happy, Becky," he said, taking a glance at my mother who was also smiling.

"You don't know how you take our worries away," he added.

"I hope someday, you will learn to love Freen, Becky," my mom said.

I took my hands off my dad's and was shocked,

"Freen?!" I said.

A flashback of everything that happened that night came rushing back to me, the time when Freen talked about her problem with an arranged marriage. How come I didn't think of this yesterday?!

"Do you know Freen? It's Freen Sarocha, the daughter of Mr. Sarocha," my dad added.

I was so stunned that I walked out and went straight to my room. I was overwhelmed with emotions and didn't know how to process everything. It felt like my whole world had turned upside down. Sam will be so hurt knowing that I'm going to marry her cousin, her favorite cousin to be exact.

I felt tears streaming down my face, and I couldn't stop them. Fate plays a cruel joke on us; it's like we're being toyed around.

-

I woke up as I heard someone knocking on my door. I quickly got up from my bed and made my way towards the door. As I opened it, I saw my dad standing outside with a worried look on his face.

"I'm sorry about earlier. Do you want to call off the meeting?" he asked.

"No, Dad. I'll push through with it. I'm sorry for being distant earlier. I was just preoccupied with something else," I explained.

He smiled and took my hand. "If there's something bothering you, don't hesitate to tell me. Your well-being is more important than the company," he said.

I felt grateful for having such a caring and understanding father.

"Thank you, Dad," I said, giving him a smile.

"Be ready for the meeting later, okay? We're going to meet with the Sarocha's." he reminded me.

I nodded,

"Okay, Dad. I'll be ready." I said.

He smiled before going downstairs.

I went back to bed and grabbed my phone. As I checked it, I saw that Sam had sent me 11 messages.

"Are you free for lunch today?"

"Becky, are you okay?"

"Don't overthink about the company, okay? everything will be okay."

"hey?"

"Hello Becky! Am I annoying? :(("

"Let's eat lunch together. My treat!"

"Is your dad hates me?"

"I am sorry, Becky"

"Am I making you feel uncomfortable because of what happened yesterday?"

"Hello Becky, I am sorry :(("

"I miss you, Becky."

As I read through Sam's messages, my heart sank at the thought of hurting such a genuine person. I couldn't help but feel guilty for agreeing to marry Freen, especially when I knew how much Sam meant to me.

I decided to reply to Sam, apologizing for my delayed response and assuring her not to worry. I wanted to express my true feelings to her, as I wasn't sure if I would have the opportunity to do so in the future.

Sam's response brought a smile to my face, and I couldn't help but feel relieved that she was happy to hear from me. The thought of her joy made my heart race with excitement. But at the same time, I couldn't help but regret not giving Sam a chance earlier. Maybe if I had, things would be different now, and I wouldn't be in this position. I knew I had to face the consequences of my actions, but it still hurt to think about what could have been.

I dragged myself out of bed and headed to the bathroom to start getting ready. I splashed cold water on my face to wake myself up and started brushing my teeth. I took a quick shower, got dressed, and put on some light makeup.

As I was getting ready, I couldn't help but think about what was at stake in this meeting. The Sarocha's were a very influential family, and their business could make or break my family's company. I had to make sure that everything went smoothly, and that I made a good impression on them.

After I was done with my hair and makeup, I looked at myself in the mirror and took a deep breath. I reminded myself that I was capable of handling anything that comes my way. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As I was going down, I saw my parents waiting for me downstairs. "You look so gorgeous," my mom said. I smiled in response.

We quickly went to the parking lot and got into the car.

"I hope this day goes well," I said.

"It will be alright," my dad replied.

We headed straight to a fancy restaurant for the meeting. I was really nervous, I just wanted to jump out of the car and go home. Besides being Sam's cousin, Freen is really scary. She's so cold and emotionless. I can't even imagine what her face would look like if she saw me. I hope that by some miracle, I meet a different Freen today, a different person to be exact.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, my heart continued to race with anxiety. As we entered, there were only a handful of people, allowing us to immediately spot the Sarocha's.

"There they are," my dad pointed out.

We approached their table, and upon seeing us, they stood up to greet us with a handshake.

"Freen went to the restroom," Mr. Sarocha informed us.

After taking our seats across from them, someone in front of us spoke out,

"I'm definitely not going to marry this woman." and unfortunately yes, it's Freen, Sam's favorite cousin.
