Chapter 48

Max's POV

"Common Hannah, just pick one" Mallory nagged

We were currently getting ready to go out to eat, but Hannah was being a fuss and wouldn't agree to anything.

"I don't know which one" Hannah whined

"By the time you pick something, it will be dinner already" Mallory said rolling her eyes and I chuckled

She gave me a look and I raised my hands up in defense.

"Okay, I wanna wear that" Hannah said pointing to her black and white dress.

"Perfect, now let's get you changed and let's go." Mallory said taking her dress down.

Hannah finally got ready and we went downstairs. It was just gonna be the three of us today, so we could all a sort things. We're thinking of telling Hannah about her being my daughter. We took a DNA test and the tests came back positive. They just used her test from her last one, so she wouldn't need to draw blood again.

We said bye to everyone and got into my car. Since it's not really safe to go eat at a place, we were thinking of getting takeout and going to a crowded park.

It was pure silence in the car and it was getting awkward, so I turned on the radio. locked away came on and I started to jam out to it and then both mal and Hannah joined me. We were laughing and screaming the lyrics and it was just great.

Hannah wanted chicken nuggets, so I went to McDonalds. After going to McDonald's, me and mal went to Taco Bell and got our food.

"Which park would be crowded?" I asked Mal quietly.

"Mmmm, go to the one 2 blocks down from the Willington school" she suggested. I nodded and drove towards the area.

We finally reached and there were about 6 families here. We got out and I grabbed a mat from the trunk and we found a place under some shade.

We sat down and opened our food and started eating.

After we finished eating, Hannah kept bugging to play on the playground.

"But you're wearing a dress and you'll get it dirty" Mallory said

"Pleasssseeeee" Hannah begged

"15 minutes and then we're calling you back because we have something to tell you" Mallory said

"Okay!" She said and ran off.

"I'm scared" I said once Hannah was gone

Mallory looked at me and placed her hand on top of my hand and gave it a light squeeze.

"You'll be fine. You're also not alone in this" she said and I looked at her.

She was still looking straight forward, staring at Hannah.

"She's a good kid. A brat, but I love her even though she's not mine." She said smiling and still looking

"She's gonna be happy to hear that those people who beat her up weren't her real parents. She'll be happy you're her dad. She might be overwhelmed and might not react the way you want, but with time she'll loosen up and realize how lucky she is" she said finally looking at me.

I squeezed her hand back lightly and smiled. "Thank you for saying that" I said and she smiled and nodded.

15 minutes has past and we called back Hannah.

"Have fun?" I asked smiling

"Yeah!" She said

"Okay, let's start going" I said
