Chapter 21
Ezra
I was back on the road touring, I had to make a little detour last weekend for Bella on Valentine's Day because I didn't want to leave her hanging.
Meanwhile we was cruising on the tour bus headed to ATL. I needed to be getting all the rest I could there were things that needed to be handled. I had a road manager and everything but I like to do shit myself so I know it's taken care and that's probably why I never get rest but it's cool. I gotta make sure my family gonna be straight.
"Hey E..."
I glanced beside me to see one of my female dancers, Kennedy. I got kinda close with her over this tour because I'm around my team a lot more than I am when I'm home.
"What's up with you?" I said typing an email on my Mac laptop.
"Nothing much, I should probably be resting with everyone else but I can't sleep." She said sighing.
"Why? What's wrong?" I asked looking at her.
She stared at me for a moment. "I'm not sure, a lot of things just keep me up at night. Sometimes I feel like I haven't accomplished anything."
"You're 28, you graduated from college with a degree in arts for dancing...you smart with a good head on your shoulder. Your family supports you and I do too so stop tripping."
"I've had my life planned out since I was a little girl and I'm just not where I want to be. I haven't reached my prime yet. I was supposed to have at least one studio by now with a husband and one kid. My body will start to go down hill in my 30s...I don't want to be one of those women who can't have a baby. I want to have that chance. I want my own family today and a man that can appreciate me." She expressed to me.
"I feel you on that completely but just because you get a man and a few kids or however many you won't don't exactly mean you'll be happy. You can be with someone your entire life and wake up one day and realize that's not what you really wanted...or you just want someone else. Marriage is so permanent you gotta make sure it's what you want before you make a commitment like that."
"You and your wife seem perfect, how do y'all do that. Are you truly happy to be with her?"
I stared at her before I could respond because I wasn't expecting her to say that.
"What made you ask that?" I said.
"Because you've been with her for so long and after so long these things seem like it's just something you do because that's all you been doing and that's what you're use to. This may sound silly but how did you know you were ready to get married so young when you didn't get to experience as much. This kind of lifestyle has its pros and cons."
"I mean I kinda knew what I was getting myself into.."
"Do you love her? Are you still in love with her after so long? You get so use to saying 'I love you' to someone that it gets to a point where you may wonder if it still hold its meaning." Kennedy said staring at me.
I smiled. "You real deep. These are some interesting questions to be honest."
She laughed. "I'm just wondering, I wanted your insight on things since you're pretty wise. You still didn't answer any of them."
"You got a lot of questions for me, you know that right?" I said.
"Yes I do know but for real...I saw in a few magazines where they talk about your wife not being able to carry a baby, how does that make you feel?" Kennedy asked.
