"Babe..." I said sitting next to Jamahl on the couch.

"What's up?" He asked texting on his phone.

"I need to get my nails done."

He looked at me. "So what are you saying?"

"Can you pay for them please?" I smiled.

"Nope. Can't pay for it then you don't need it."

I hit him in the chest and he laughed.

"I'm serious babe."

"I got you, you know that. Whenever you wanna go just let me know baby." Jamahl said laying his head on my shoulder.

"You're the best J. Now, what should I cook for dinner?" I asked.

"It doesn't matter to me. I just want to eat."

"Well you know this is the last week of school before winter break. Riley and Josh don't know how to act when they are out of school."

"You got some bad ass kids."Jamahl said.

I laughed. "Oh so they're just my kids now?"

"Hell yeah, what you mean."

My phone started ringing and I saw that it was the kids' school so I hurried and answered.

"Hi, this is Indiaah." I said.

"I'm sorry to be calling you but Joshua is acting up in class and he's talking back to the teacher. There's only so much we can do to try and control him. Would you like to speak with him?" The principle said.

I placed the phone on speaker. "Yes ma'am."

I heard shuffling before Joshua finally got on the phone.

"What?" he spoke.

I looked at the phone crazy. Who the hell he think he talking to? I will beat his ass.

"Joshua, this is your mom." I said calmly just in case they were listening to us talk.

"I know." he said with an attitude.

Jamahl was staring at me crazy.

"Why are you acting up in class? You know we don't tolerate that. Do I need to come up there?" I said to him.

He sighed. "I don't care mom."

Jamahl snatched the phone from me. "Joshua, if I  come up to this damn school. We gonna have a problem."

"I didn't do anything Dad." he said instantly changing his attitude.

"So you just being lied on?" Jamahl asked.
