Chapter 35

"Clean up your rooms. I'm not gonna tell either one of you again." I said to Josh and Riley.

I've been trying to visit Zoey for the past few days but they aren't allowing any visitors other than Ezra and Alyssa. I'm not sure what's going on with her.

I was doing a little laundry while trying to prepare dinner. These kids are a handful when summer break comes around. They drive me crazy.

"Mommy, I'm tired." Riley said sitting on the staircase.

"You can go to sleep once you clean your room and eat. I'm gonna tell dad if your room isn't clean by the time he gets home from work." I said.

She looked as if she was about to cry but got up and headed back to her room.

I went into the kitchen to finish up dinner. I made chicken spaghetti, fresh green beans and garlic toast. Just something simple. I know all three of them loves. I was also finishing up the homemade lemonade. I like to make just about everything from scratch. You'd think I would be big as a house by my cooking but I'm still very petite and curvy.

I began setting the table and making each of their plates. As I was doing so Jamahl strolls in the kitchen and grabs me by the waist, kissing on me.

"Hey baby." I said smiling.

"What's up. You got it smelling good in here."

"Thanks J."

"I'm hungry as hell." He said letting go of me and leaning against the counter staring.

"Hey...um, someone named Carla left about 3 voicemails on the phone saying she needs to see you and talk to you." I said glancing at him.

He put his face in his hands and sighed.

"Aight." Was all he said.

"Who is she?" I questioned.

"Um, nobody. I'm about to go shower. I'll be back in a bit." Jamahl said heading out the kitchen and up the stairs.

I wonder what it is that he's keeping from me. This all sounds a little fishy to be honest. After about ten minutes we were all sitting at the dinner table eating. Jamahl was so distracted that he was barely eating.

"Babe, are you okay?" I asked.

He looked up at me and nodded.

"You sure? Something on your mind that you wanna talk about."

"Nah, I'm good."

I didn't say anything else because he obviously didn't want me to whatever it is that he's so distracted by. The kids were enjoying their food, hardly paying any attention to Jamahl and I.

I continued to eat until my plate was all gone. After the kids finished eating Jamahl cleaned them up and put them to bed. I began cleaning the kitchen as Jamahl made his way over to me.

"I'm about to go out for a minute. I'll be back later, don't stay up for me." Jamahl said.

"Wait, where are you going Jamahl?" I sighed in frustration.

"I gotta take care of some things. I'll be back later. Love you." He said kissing my cheek before hurriedly leaving the house.

What the hell?

I finished cleaning the kitchen as quickly as I could then got in the bed. I couldn't go to sleep because my mind was on him not being here like where the hell could he be and why?
