Hours ticked by and then suddenly, we were on our way home. The plane soar high above the clouds, seeming as if the many people living their separate lives below were nothing but little specs. I had gotten used to the floating sensation of being in a plane, making the trip back much easier.

The plane was quiet, people had headphones in or read books or gazed out the window. It seemed almost too easy. Almost as if disaster was going to strike at any moment. And it did.

"Excuse me, passengers and flight attendants please remain calm when I say we are having some major technical difficulties. If you could please apply your masks and fasten your seat belts. Again, please remain calm as we do our best to keep in flight pattern." The captain called out as little breathing like masks hung lose from the ceiling of the plane. Each passenger scrambled to apply them, fastening their seat belts quickly. Children cried and screamed and kicked. Seconds flashed by. Mothers hugging their newborns. Fathers keeping their families safe. Flight attendants scrambled down the isle ways, checking on everyone before fastening themselves to seats near the engine room.

Little beeping noises sounded out from every direction as the plane began to shake. I stiffened my muscles, pushing against the seat in fear. "We're going down!" A man called. I gulped, feeling my eyes water. My ears were ringing now, I could hear the heartbeat thump in my chest. The fear on my friends faces melted into my mind. I squeezed my eyes shut as we all grabbed hands. "It's okay." I whispered. "It's okay."
