Blood & Tears

Angelo was helping Sophia to the ground slowly and carefully. Shock consumed my whole body, and a nervous shake controlled my every movement.

"Don't kill him!" Angelo commanded just as Dom was about to go for the kill shot. Tony was on the floor, writhing in the pain he deserved. Dom had shot through his leg right after he had fired into Sophia.

I still wasn't sure where the bullet went.

I knelt down next to Angelo as the newer Family doctor, Elijah ran up. He immediately started tending to Sophia. "Put pressure on her shoulder," he told me.

I quickly put as much pressure as I saw fit on SoSo's shoulder, and she yelped in response. "Am I...gonna die?" She cried.

I shook my head frantically, hysterical tears pooling from my eyes, "No, you're not."

"You're gonna be ok, baby," Angelo held her hand in his, and he did one thing I never thought I'd see him do.

He cried.

And that made me cry even more than I already was.

"FeFe (fee fee)," Sio slowly came over, "I love you," he looked over to Angelo, "Can I help?"

"Just stay out of the way, Alessio."

"Are we taking her to the hospital or back to the mafia house? We don't have a whole lot of time to choose," Elijah said.

"I called for an ambulance," Lilly said. "I'll ride with her to the hospital. The cops don't know my face, they know both of yours. We can't risk them seeing you guys and taking you in right now. So's going to need you."

She was right, but I so wished she wasn't.

"Everyone here needs to leave now. There isn't much time."

"I can't leave her," Angelo said. "This is my fault."

"Angelo!" Dom yelled, "You're not even going to be able to see her ever again if you don't get the hell out of this place right now! We all need to leave. Lilly's got this."

You could hear the sirens coming down the street.

I turned my head just to see that almost everyone had already left the vicinity. "I don't wanna leave her," I cried to Angelo.

"I don't either."

"We'll both stay," Elijah said. "She'll be just fine. You need to leave. Now."

Sio made a squeal, a noise he only made when he felt there were no other options, "Can I stay too? Please," he begged with big eyes full of clear water.

Angelo looked at me before looking to Lilly and Elijah, "You take care of both of them," he demanded, making sure they both knew there was no room for even the slightest error.

-Lilly's POV-

"How'd this happen?" One of the paramedics asked as him and another one rushed Sophia to the ambulance on the stretcher. I pulled Alessio along with me as we ran to keep up with them. "I need to know everything."

"You the father?" A cop asked Elijah.

He seemed hesitant before nodding, "Yeah. Yeah I am."

"I'm gonna have you come with me. We need to figure out exactly what happened and what actions we need to take to fix this. We got calls from people saying they saw some people from the mafia around here earlier."

Well fuck me twice on Sunday.

This literally could not get any worse.

"Ma'am," the paramedic said, pulling me out of Elijah and the cop's conversation, "Can you tell us what happened?" He asked again whilst gently putting Soph in the back of the ambulance.

I picked Alessio up and hopped in, having him sit on my lap. The two paramedics got in and we started for the nearest hospital.

Elijah and I didn't have time to fabricate a story. If the paramedics went to the cops or vice versa, there was no way in hell they'd be hearing the same thing.

Not only was I in charge of the hopefully current mafia Boss' daughter that was barely hanging on to her life by a thread, but I also had his son, an innocent little boy who just wanted to spend time with his sister in her time of need. If I failed to communicate a realistic story to the authorities both my head and Dom's was on the chopping block.

"We were just walking," I started my story, really not sure where this was going to go or how believable it was going to be, "My...husband and our children that is. Some man came out of nowhere with a gun and said he wanted whatever money we had on us. We didn't give it up right away so he...shot Soph," tears came to my eyes. Knowing that your children and other completely innocent little ones were in trouble on a daily basis was an extremely hard pill to swallow. I didn't want my Enzo to meet the same fate as Sophia, ever. This would kill me.

"Soph," the paramedic repeated, "Is it Sophie or Sophia?" He asked her sweetly.

Her once lively brown eyes now dull and desolate, moved slightly to look at him, "...Phia."

"She's gonna be ok, right?" Alessio asked, barely able to keep it together.

Just by seeing the way they usually treat each other when nothing is wrong with them, I never would have guessed that this would affect Alessio as much as it is now.

"Of course."

And I wasn't sure if that was a lie.

-Chloe's POV-

"This is the longest wait ever," I cried. Angelo and I sat in the car in the hospital parking lot, waiting for Lilly to call and tell us that the cops had left. I wanted to at least have Alessio brought outside, but he refused to leave Sophia's side. A good little brother.

"I know," Angelo put his head back on the headrest.

There was a tap on Angelo's window, causing us both to jump back. It was Dom. He had changed his clothes to look semi normal and he had a bouquet of pink roses, Soph's favorite flower. Angelo rolled the window down.

"She's doing great," Dom cheered, a big smile spreading across his lips.

Angelo let out a huge breath he had probably been holding this whole time, his entire body relaxed and an almost complete smile appeared on his face.

"Yeah. Elijah was checking everything and he said we could smuggle her out safely if we needed to. SoSo wanted you to hold these for her, she 'doesn't want to lose them'," he thrusted the flowers into the car. I reached over and grabbed them.

"He said it was totally safe to get her out?" I asked. I wanted to see Sophia yes, but I could wait if it meant she was going to be more comfortable.

"Well, we'd have to move fast, but otherwise it would be alright."

Angelo shook his head, his frown coming back, "She needs to stay awhile longer. Something could spring up that we're not ready to deal with back at the mafia house. We'll see how she feels in the morning."

Dom nodded, "Got it."
