I Have My Eyes On Someone Else

You stare at the confusing piece of paper in your hands, then look back up at the bustling hallways. You bite down on your lip.

You are the new girl at Seirin High. You're a second year that moved from Kaijo to Seirin a while after the beginning of the year. You don't know a single person, let alone have any clue where to go.

"Hello, beautiful!" Someone pops out of nowhere and gives you a fright. "Oh, sorry... I'm Koganei. I am your eyes and ears of this school!" He exclaims and points to himself with his thumb. The boy's lips remind you of a cat's... He's cute.

"Hi, I'm Y/N. New girl." You smile.

"I know exactly who you are. Where did you transfer from, again?" He takes a peak at your timetable and ushers for you to follow him through the hall. You trail behind him.

"Kaijo."

"Oh! Did you happen to know anything about the basketball team there?" He queries with interest.

"Yeah, actually. My ex boyfriend plays on the team. I always helped out... I practically created all their techniques and strategies." You respond.

He gasps. "Come with me!" The cat boy takes your wrist and drags you along with him. School doesn't actually start for quite some time so you have a while to spare.

He takes you to the basketball court.

"Everyone, this is Y/N!" He exclaims excitedly as he bursts through the door. Everyone seemed to be huddled in a circle talking about game plans.

"The new girl?" The only other female there asks. "Hi, I'm Riko Aida." She extends her hand and you shake it.

"This is the basketball team. Hyuuga, Izuki, Mitobe, Kagami, Furihata, Kawahara, Fukuda, Kuroko and our coach, Riko." He introduces them. You nod and wave.

"It's nice to meet you all."

"Y/N transferred from Kaijo!" Koganei says with vigorous nods.

"Kaijo!?" Hyuuga repeats.

"Yep."

"Do you know about the b-"

"Already asked her! She says her ex boyfriend plays for the team. She can tell us lots." Koganei interrupts. Everyone stares at you with hope.

"Let's see what your strategies are so far." You offer.

"THAT RHYMES!" Izuki takes out a pen and notepad and writes down what you said at lightning speed.

"You can safely ignore Izuki." Koganei whispers in your ear, causing you to giggle. Seeing that he made you laugh, Koganei's face lights up.

The team makes room for you and they show you what their plan is. You chip in and tell them what would be better or what they shouldn't do.

Eventually, over time they recruit you as manager.

"We're playing a practice game against Kaijo... We're playing a practice game against Kaijo..." Koganei repeats to himself.

By now you had been at Seirin for a while and you were close with the whole basketball team. They're your over protective second family. You're especially close to Koganei.
You even developed feelings for him.

"Calm down, Koganei. You'll do amazing." You reassuringly pat him on the shoulder and he blushes at your touch.

"Y/N?"

That voice. You turn around and see Kasamatsu standing there staring at you. Your eyes widen and you take a step backwards into Koganei. He quickly holds you so you don't fall.

"Kasamatsu..."

"Y-You're back..." He trails off still staring at you in disbelief. "I still lo-"

"Y/N! We need you over here!" Riko calls out. You stumble backwards but quickly regain your balance and speed away to the team.

"So he's your ex boyfriend?" Koganei asks. The whole of Seirin's team is gathered around together.

"Uh, yes." Your mind is still foggy from Kasamatsu's almost confession.

You notice Koganei's gaze shift to the floor, then your face, then to Kasamatsu.

"So... Why did you two break up?" Kagami curiously asks.

"I told him I was moving schools and he didn't seem as upset as I did... I guess that was the first sign. We were going to try and make it work even though we wouldn't see each other everyday. My best friend and I had a falling out not long before that and then... I went to her house to apologise the day I was leaving and... I walked in on them having sex."

That was the first time you had ever told the story and not felt an aching pain in your heart.

You're finally over him.

Suddenly, basketballs are being thrown from every direction at Kasamatsu. Kagami, Hyuuga, Fukuda and everyone else was taking basketballs from the bag beside you and was ditching them at the boy that broke your heart.

"H-Hey what the hell!?" He screams as he ducks for cover.

"You PRICK!" Koganei screams, making everyone go totally silent. "What the hell is wrong with you!? If I was ever lucky enough to have Y/N as mine I would fight for her with every fibre of my being! You're an asshole!
Y/N is beautiful and funny and kind and stunning inside and out. Her laugh lights up this world and her eyes make the stars seem like they aren't shining! You never deserved her!"

Koganei never ceases to surprise and amaze you.

Everyone there is staring at the scene which Koganei caused. Kasamatsu has his eyes wide. He quickly regains his composure.

"I know that. That's why I'm still madly in love with her. I-I want you back, Y/N." Kasamatsu walks up to you and gazes pleadingly into your eyes. In your peripheral vision you see Koga's face fall and his arms go limp at his sides in defeat. His eyes are full of heartbreak.

You raise your hand,

and slap Kasamatsu across the face.

The sound of your hand connecting with skin sounds throughout the court.

"You never even apologised to me, dickhead." You push past him and walk to Koganei. "Besides, I have my eyes someone else." You smile. Koganei's cat lips turn up into a massive grin. You lean in and give him a gentle peck on the lips.

"KASAMATSU!? I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR YOU, BABY!"

Your ex-best friend yells as she skips into the court. Kasamatsu looks around in worry that someone saw or heard her.

Kasamatsu must have never broken up with her... He was going to cheat on her with you and simply use you for his benefit.

You hear someone cracking their knuckles. Your team, also known as your bunch of protective best friends, are mad as hell.
