Chapter 12 - Just You

Ross' POV

Everything was over soon enough.

I just wish it was gone permanently.

I wish Maia was gone so that my mind would stop going back and forth.

I wish Maia never existed so that Laura was all that was in my mind.

And yes, I know, it's wrong to make that wish.

Laura was laying down right beside me, across the bed, playing on the iPad with Melody.

I keep on thinking to myself; How could I be so stupid? To let Maia come in between.

"Okay Melody... What number comes between 7 and 9?" Laura read aloud the question on the iPad.

"Umm... 8!" Mel cheered.

This was seriously like a perfect family. I'm not kidding. It's hard to say that, but I'm sure.

"You downloaded some games for her?" I joined.

"Yeah! She seems to love them," said Laura.

I smiled, "She does." I was thinking for a while, then suggested. "Hey, why don't we go to the park?"

Melody and Laura both looked at me.

"I wanna go!" Melody said. She jumped up and climbed down the bed.

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" Mel tugged on Laura's sundress and my jeans.

Laura and I looked at each other.

"Let's go," Laur smiled.

We were suppose to invite Vanessa and Riker, but they were asleep.

Melody, Laura, and I were walking along the streets to the park.

"Ooh, corn dogs!" Laura jumped as she saw a corn dog stand. "Want some Mel?" She asked.

"Yes please!"

"C'mon!"

I watched as Laura held Melody's hand and ran to the corn dog stand.

I smiled to the thought of them.

Again, perfect.

They came back a few minutes later, after the corn dog seller asked for a picture with Laura.

"Got you one," Laura winked and handed a corn dog to me.

"Thanks," I said, smiling.

"Daddy, can you carry me?" Melody stepped in front of me, extending her hands.

"Oh there goes the heaviness," I joked and carried her.

"Awww! This is so cute, here, smile!" Laura pulled out her phone and took a quick selfie, with me in the background, carrying Melody bridal style with her giggling.

Few seconds later, my phone rang.

"That fast?" I asked.

"Power of the flip phone!" My girlfriend laughed.

"WHAT?!" I saw Laura's comment and literally jumped off the road.

She started laughing, "I was kidding!"

"Don't do that! I'm carrying Melody," I laughed.

We reached to the park soon enough.

Laura and I let Melody run around and play on the swings and slides while we sat on the bench.

"She's adorable," Laura said as she leaned on my shoulder.

"Yeah," I smiled and put my arm on Laur's shoulder. Then I turned to her, "You do know I love you right? And just you, no one else."

She smiled, "I know."

I smiled again too and kissed her lightly.
