WORKING FOR WICKED WASN'T A CHOICE. Leaving her family and her best friend wasn't a choice. Leaving the place she once called home wasn't a choice. Helping WCKD with the Maze wasn't a choice. Creating the Grievers weren't a choice, but trying to find a cure was her choice.
At the age of five Scarlett's family caught the Flare.
First it was her mother, who gauged her own eyes out and started saying these nasty things. She went crazy. Then it was her sister, who didn't know what was going on but she could still feel something in her body changing the way she felt before she had it.
Soon after her mother and sister died Trevor, her father, felt like he was slowly catching the virus.
When he found out about WCKD trying to find a cure for it he knew that he had to send his own daughter to the WCKD compound where she would help find a cure. Scarlett Andrews was a genius. She's always been a smart girl which made everyone want her. Being immune to the Flare also had WCKD wanting her even more. Trevor knew that she had to go there and help find a cure. He couldn't let her watch him die and go crazy like the rest of their family.
At first Scarlett didn't think she would fit in with everyone. Then she met Teresa, her new best friend who she talked almost everyday. Teresa introduced her to Thomas. The second they met Thomas knew he cared for the girl.
As they grew up it was obvious that the two had feelings for each other but she couldn't see it until he unexpectedly kissed her one day. Kissing him and being with him she felt safe. She felt like nothing could go wrong. In fact, it didn't. That is until they met more friends and had to send them into the Maze to watch them survive on their own, watch their own death. It was heartbreaking. Scarlett created the Grievers. The Grievers have killed many people in the Maze and she knows that it's her fault since she created them.
Ava Paige looked up to Scarlett, Thomas, and Teresa the most. But it was mostly Scarlett. Ava thought Scarlett as her own daughter in her mind. She helped her with a lot of things and Scarlett trust her. Did trust her. When she found out she was going into the Maze without Thomas she freaked out on her.
She wouldn't remember who he was and he would forget her. Though the Maze, the thing they created together is what tore them apart from the beginning.
