Your POV
"Are you sure, hun?" My mothers sweet voice rang through my ears.

"Yeah, I just need some time away. Nothing bad, it's just that I have a little too much on my plate today." You heavily sighed while digging your chin in your palm and looking out of the car window.

"Okay, just relax. It'll be fine." She smiled.

You exhaled again and slumped into your seat as your mother drove you to school on a Friday. Today, you were supposed to see Ethan but you had a big test in History which you COULN'T miss. And besides, you didn't have the heart to face "him" today. It would hurt too much.

"Did you want me to pass anything along to him? Maybe an explanation of why you're not there or an apology for your absence?" She asked with innocence laced in her voice.

"Why the fuck would I APOLOGIZE to him?!" You instantly blurted.

Suddenly you felt a stinging sensation across your upper arm, soon after you said that. Your head quickly jerked to your mom in shock, and you saw her angry facial expression.

"Ow! Mom, I-"

"Watch your language, y/n!" She said annoyed.

You've NEVER cursed in front of your mom before. She has this "policy" about strong language and how saying it in front of adults is extremely disrespectful. You understand why she was upset towards your language, but you thought the smacking was unneeded.

"I get that, but did you seriously need to hit me?!" You said in a defensive tone.

She quickly jerked her eyes at you raised one of her eyebrows; clearly asking you if you wanted her to answer your attitude filled question.

(A/N: seriously though, those mom looks give me the creeps)

"I'm sorry, It's just-I'm super stressed today. I'm not functioning right now." You mumbled.

It was silent while your mother sighed and finally pulled into your schools parking lot. She parked in one of the empty spaces and turned towards you; taking her seatbelt off.

"Which, is exactly why I didn't let you drive today." She laughed-scoffed (?) at you.

"I'm serious, mom." You playfully whined.

"I know, hun. It's been a little more difficult for you to keep up with your school work AND the hospital work. But I want you to know that I'm SO proud of you for working well under enormous pressure. We both know you don't really mix with pressure." She said.

"Yeah." Your voice trailed off.

She gently placed her hand on yours and gripped it. With her other hand, she placed it underneath your chin and pecked your forehead.

"But you did it babe." She smiled.

"Did what?" You asked; scrunching your eyebrows.
