Chapter Seven

Nicholas Fisher. Not only was he one of my closest friends, but he was also legendary when it came to throwing parties. His father owned a huge publishing company. As a result, Nick lived in one of the largest and nicest houses in town. This only increased his popularity, but instead of being a snob, he was funny, caring, and a free spirit. His parents covered all the costs of the parties on the condition he threw only two a year. This was the second one he'd thrown this year and of course, he messaged everyone via text and Facebook.

I chewed my cereal at the table as my phone revealed a text from Reggie that also included Liam and Maggie. I guess Sunny was still dealing with some situations with her parents and Nick was probably too busy getting everything ready for the party.

Reggie: Hey, guys! I'm bored and mom's being a witch. Let's hang out at the park.

I smiled waiting for everyone else's response.

Maggie: Well, I'm down for a park visit!

Liam: What is it with you and early morning park visits?

Reggie: Call it the child in me. Ever heard of Peter Pan?

Maggie: He's a legend!

Liam: He's also a nonexistent child.

Maggie: Blasphemy!

That little message caused me to chuckle. Only Maggie.

Reggie: Yes, Mags. Blasphemy!

Liam: Sorry, Maggie. Not you, Reg. Ariel, where are you? You're in my house with me. I see you eating cereal right now!

I raised an eyebrow and turned to confirm Liam was indeed staring at me.

Ariel: Wow, creep. And I was just sitting back and enjoying the show. I would love to go to the park.

I readily accepted as dad had been in a really bad mood last night. This I only knew because mom had told Kaylin over the phone as she explained I needed to stay with Liam again. I figured I'd be staying a little longer as mom said he was in a particular mood. The kind he normally didn't get over for a few days.

Reggie: So are we going to the park or not? Or is the party pooper, Liam, going to ruin it?!

Liam: Fine. Fine. We'll go to the park then!

Reggie: Knew you'd see things my way.

Reggie volunteered to come to pick us up and we let him despite some resistance from Liam.

"He's going to get us killed!" Liam whined.

"No, he's not. He's a good driver," I chuckled.

He turned to me with narrowed eyes. "Sure. If you count running over the lines or better yet, off the road as good driving then sure. He's a fabulous driver!" He snapped, throwing his hands in the air.

I rolled my eyes. "You are so dramatic. Besides, I know you won't let Maggie be in the car by herself with him." I smirked.

He frowned, turning to hide the light blush on his cheeks. "You're not going to be quiet about that are you, gummy bear?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No, I'm not because you like her," I explained.

"Just because I may like her a little bit doesn't mean anything." He fired back.

I turned to him and pointed my finger at him. "I knew it! I knew it!" I exclaimed loudly.

He pushed me as he glared at me. "Shut up," He whined once more.
