Chapter One Hundred-Eight

Why did I always have to open my big mouth? Things were going good and then I had to go and screw it all up. Way to go, Ariel! At this point, I might as well toss myself into a deep dark pool of embarrassment. That's what my mouth always got me. It would be suitable since I couldn't go a day without fighting with Zayn. Or Miles for that matter. Speaking of Miles, I hadn't seen him today and I was wondering where he was.

I might have been in my third period but learning about the Civil War wasn't at the top of my list of things to worry about at this moment. Liam was beside me listening to the lecture like the good student he was and across the room, Maggie was jotting something down in her notebook. No doubt she was writing down a new story idea. I knew for a fact she hated history so it was a given that she wouldn't be paying attention.

Our second period went as well as a math class could. Zayn didn't talk to me throughout the whole period and despite the fact I knew Liam enjoyed it, I knew he and Maggie were both worried as to why we weren't speaking. I was just surprised they hadn't mentioned it after class ended. Maybe they figured I'd tell them later? Or they just didn't care anymore considering we always fought. Knowing them, I was betting on the former.

When class ended whatever decision they'd made fell through on Maggie's end. She linked arms with mine and I could tell she wanted to know what was wrong between us. Any second she was going to ask me what was wrong. When she did I'd have to admit my failures once again. Admitting them to myself just wasn't enough apparently. Well, here it goes.

"You're not okay," she sighed.

Well, that's not what I expected but she was right. I'd question how she recognized that but it was painfully obvious. Regardless her comment shocked and I was curious as to what she meant.

"Excuse me?"

"You're not okay. I was going to ask you but I can tell your not. So instead I'm just going to comment your not okay and mind my own business. Unless you're going to volunteer to tell me what's going on that is."

"So basically you're telling me you want to know what's going on without actually asking me right?"

"Sure if that's what you think," she shrugged.

"Zayn and I had an argument."

"Figured so."

"What else is new?" Liam commented from behind us.

"This wasn't even one of our worst ones yet it had a bigger impact."

"What was it about?"

"I don't want to repeat it."

"Melinda Miles?" Liam questioned.

"It involves them really but it was mostly about Zayn and me."

"Oh boy," he whistled making me glare at him.

Oh boy? Thats what he decided to say?!

"What does that mean Liam? Care to share since your making comments back there? You know walking behind us and still making comments."

"When it involves all of you it's always something big."

Touche but I was not giving him the satisfaction of that. It was not as big a deal as he was making it out to be. It wasn't like the four of us got into a knockdown drag-out fight with each other. Technically speaking Miles and Melinda weren't involved in this as they weren't there. It was between Zayn and me which was actually much worse.

"No, it wasn't big really. Actually, everything was going really great until I mentioned I didn't know if we'd really be friends then it turned into Zayn basically saying he could never love me like he loves Melinda."
