Chapter Nine

I was ready to punch him myself. I was freezing from the rain and he was insistent he was staying until I agreed to go with him. Something I really shouldn't even be doing, to begin with.

"Will, you just come with me?"

"No, not after what happened last time."

"Would you get over it already? I said I was sorry."

"Ugh, like that makes it better? It started pouring rain so I got soaked," gesturing to my drenched state.

"You would have gotten a full-on shower if I didn't offer you a ride for the most part of the journey back may I remind you."

"Um no, it didn't start raining until I got out of the car. So your argument doesn't hold up," I reminded him.

"Okay fine it was hot and I knew it was going to rain so I offered you a ride and planned to bring you here. After our argument, I kicked you out and shouldn't have. I left you in the rain and I honestly felt so terrible about it I had to come and apologize."

"Apology accepted I guess."

" Give me a chance to explain more and let us talk. Please? " The look on his face and sound of his voice seemed genuine and I felt my heart beginning to melt against my better judgment. It seemed like he really was sorry and I wanted to believe he was. Didn't I owe him that much? Didn't he owe me that much to explain to me? Or maybe I just wanted to believe he was redeemable.

"Okay fine but only if it's going to make you shut up." I was being brave again now which had a lot to do with Liam and Maggie's presence, as well as the fact Zayn wasn't angry at the point.

"It will." He smirked

"I didn't ask you to answer me, now did I?" I spat, glaring at him. Maybe the cold was getting to me as well.

"Well, technically you did." He answered. Frowning I turned around.

"Liam, Maggie we are going to go work on our project together if that's okay. " Now here I was asking for permission again.

"Are you sure, Ari's?" Maggie questioned looking between us in slight concern.

"Yeah, gummy bear, he isn't really trustworthy."

"Yeah, I'm sure. Don't worry guys, I'll be fine."

"...Okay." They say in unison.

"...But, if you don't hear from me in the next few hours you know where he lives so bring the guns. Oh, and our secret weapon." I wink.

What is our secret weapon?" Maggie asked.

Liam and I grin real big. "Reggie, of course!" We say together.

Maggie smiled while Liam and I busted out laughing at our inside joke. Zayn just rolled his eyes. Next thing I know I'm being drug out of the house by an annoyed Zayn. I wave goodbye to them as I shut the door behind us. I thought I saw Maggie smiling just slightly alongside Liam's worried look. Now she had better not be amused by my pain sick or not.

My bravery now gone, I looked to Zayn questionably as he held the door open for me again. Deja Vu. Did I really want to get back in the car with him again? Was this really a good idea?

"Ariel it's okay just get in. I won't kick you out this time." With a frown, I nodded and walked past him to get into the car. He got in beside me and I immediately moved away so we weren't elbow to elbow.

"Ariel," He asked putting his hand on mine. I jumped looking down at our hands before slowly pulling mine away.

"I'm okay," I lied.
