Chapter Twenty-Four

"You look like you didn't sleep a wink last night."

"Thank you, Liam, but remember it's two in the afternoon and I slept great," I protested, pulling his covers back over me.

"You still thinking about the party?" He wondered.

"I'm thinking about everything."

"What are you thinking about right this second."

"Everything," I smiled.

"So, does that include the party where Adam threw you into the pool?"

"Yes, and Miles was the one to help me out." I pointed out. "He and Zayn seemed concerned even though I doubt it."

"They probably were because for all they knew, you couldn't swim. Well, Zayn anyway."

"Yeah, Miles knows I can swim. It still surprised me he helped me and right before that we were talking."

"I hope you're not going to let him talk you into anything."

"I'm not. I promise."

"I liked Miles, to begin with, you know. He was rich which meant most people were jealous of him, but he seemed like an okay guy. Then when he made you happy, I made sure I'd like him. Then what he did just ruined everything. I don't think I could ever like him again."

"Don't know if I could either but I want to."

"Why?"

"Because Mom always says I should forgive everyone, and I want to do that."

"What if some people are just unforgivable?"

"I don't know. Maybe we decide whether they're unforgivable or not."

"Maybe," he allowed.

"I know I should talk to Mom and I will when I go home today. I know she was just frustrated and didn't mean how she acted."

"Of course not. She loves you."

"Yeah, she does."

"So, what's the deal with you and Reggie?"

"Honestly, I don't know."

"I saw you and it looked like you—"

"Yeah, we almost kissed. I'm certain it would have happened if you hadn't come back when you did."

The bed dipped as he sat on the edge. "Did you want it to happen?" He asked after a moment.

"I was shocked, but I think so."

"As I told you before, it wouldn't be the worst thing."

"No, but it would be the worst thing if it ruined our friendship."

"Reggie's not like that. He'd never do anything to jeopardize his friendships."

"Not on purpose. I just worry that maybe something might happen if we do date and it doesn't work out. Should I go for it?"

"I can't tell you that because it's up to you but I'd rather it be him. Rather him than you go back to Miles. Or even think about crushing on Styles."

"I'm not going back to Miles and I'm not crushing on Zayn. You don't have to worry about that."

"I don't know."

"What does that mean?"

"You readily admit you still love him, and I think that's obvious. He's manipulated you before and I wouldn't put it past him to do it again. I wouldn't put it past Zayn to do the same thing."
