Chapter 20
Evie's POV // CAN I BE HIM

As I was on my way to the soundstage for Niall's performance, I got pulled in about 5 different directions for 'emergent' things that had to be handled immediately.

I like to be early to things, and for something like this it was personally important that I make it in time to wish him luck before he went on stage. If I missed even a second of the performance I would be gutted.

I know Niall wouldn't be upset or anything, but it's just really important to me that I got there in time.

I run up the stairs to backstage just as they are calling '5 minutes to stage!'.

I'm out of breath, in a tizzy because i'm later than I wanted to be, and frantically looking around for the man himself who is nowhere to be found.

There was a team buzzing around and I probably could have asked any one of them where he was, but they all looked really busy and without any public knowledge of the two of us, I doubt anyone would have let me near him anyway —even if I am in charge of this show.

I stand off to the side in front of the long black curtains that hang from the ceiling and dance just above the floor. I figure at some point he will make his way to the stage entrance and i'll be able to get out a quick 'hello, good luck' and give him a hug before he steps out to perform.

Suddenly I feel a set of hands snake around my waist from behind and pull me into the curtains.

I let out a little yelp which is quickly hushed by Niall holding his finger up over his lips and putting his hand over my mouth.

"Niall!" I exclaim in a loud whisper, safely behind the privacy of the curtains.

"Hi." He whispers in a low voice with a huge grin on his face, his arm wrapping around my waist and pulling my body closer to his by the second and sending shivers all over my body.

Kissing him last night was not something I think I would ever regret, but it sure has had some effect on him today. Every time i've seen him it's like an inch of space between us is too much and we have to be as close as possible. But believe me, i'm not complaining.

"You scared me." I chuckle, placing the palms of my hands on his check and slowly sliding them up around his neck.

"I'm sorry. Wanted to see you before the show and knew I couldn't do this out there with everyone watching." He smirks as he speaks, his forehead against mine and or noses almost touching. I smile, knowing what he is referring to and tilt my head sideways as he closes the tiny gap between our faces and kisses my lips.

"2 minutes to stage!!!" Interrupts us as a crew member yells just on the other side of the curtain. "Has anyone seen Niall?!"

We both let out a sigh as suddenly a panicked frenzy erupts outside of the curtains as they begin to look for the man of the hour.
