Chapter 74

Evie's POV // Speechless

We're about 3 car lengths away from the red carpet and the place that we will step out of this car and make our relationship officially known to everyone in the Hollywood community, and subsequently, the world. Not to be dramatic or anything.

Making an entire Instagram post to declare our love for each other after only knowing each other a few weeks was easier for me.

I'm a nervous wreck.

From our spot in the car lineup I can already see the camera flashes and it lights up the inside of our car like it's the middle of the day, not late at night.

"Hey, you..." Niall nudges me, resting his hand on my thigh to get my attention.

"Hmmm?" I ask, coming out at a higher pitch than I would have liked.

"It's going to be alright." He reassures. That smile of his makes my insides do somersaults and somehow, I actually believe him.

For a split second anyway...

"Alright we're up." Our driver speaks up, immediately re-forming the knot in my stomach.

I feel the car pull to a stop and I must look like i'm about to be sick, because I feel like it.

"Darling..." Niall nudges again, this time turning in his seat to face me and tilting my chin up until my eyes are focused on him instead of looking out the window behind him.

Once he's sure i'm looking directly at him he leans in and connect his lips with mine, taking his time as if the entire world isn't waiting for us on the other side of this car door.

Thank goodness for tinted windows.

The next few minutes are a blur.

Niall opens the door closest to the carpet, stepping out and buttoning his suit while everyone screams his name. The camera flashes are instant and unrelenting.

Maybe I can just reach out and quickly pull the door shut and tell the driver to step on it.

Of course not. Niall is excited for me to be here. I'm nervous, but also excited to be here if for no other reason than to just be here for him. I know he's nervous and he needs me to be here for him. There is no other place in the world that I would be.

I'm trying to look past him to see the scene in which I'll be stepping into in a matter of seconds, but Niall's body is blocking my view and all I see is his butt...not that I'm complaining about that.

It feels like he's standing there forever, but I know it's just because I'm anxious to get it over with.
