Chapter 24
Evie's POV // Lovin' Ain't Easy

We finish our brunch date peacefully, with a clear mind having gotten that story off of my chest.

As hard as it was for me to tell it, and as much as I didn't want to bring it up today of all days, I knew that this was an important conversation for us to have and get out of the way. I feel a lot better knowing that Niall knows the story. I know Niall will take the information and do his best to help me continue to heal as we both learn to love again.

As we leave the cafe, Niall waves to the small group of fans across the street that had been watching us for the last few minutes of our brunch.

"Why don't you go say hello?" I ask, tugging on Niall's arm and nodding in the direction of the squealing girls after he's waved at them.

Niall looks back at me confused.

"It's a small group Niall, and they were really polite and un-invasive during our breakfast. They easily could have come right up to the patio..." I explain with a shrug.

"You sure?" He asks and I nod. "Ok, but only if you come with me?" He smiles.

"Only if you want me to." I wager.

"That's never a question." He smiles. "Come on then." He begins to walk, leading me by the hand.

We walk across the street from the cafe and the girls all begin to whisper to each other.

"Hello!" Niall says to them as the all collectively gasp for air.

"Hi Niall!" They say in unison.

"Hi Evie!" One of the girls says, smiling shyly at me.

"Yes, hello Evie!" The other girls follow, shifting their glance from Niall to me.

"We just wanted to come say hello, and thank you for letting us enjoy our breakfast in peace." Niall says to them.

"Thank you." Another girl says. "We all became friends because of One Direction. We wouldn't have found our best friends if it wasn't for you." The tall brunette speaks up.

"Wow, really?" Niall asks. I'm sure he hears things like this a lot, but I admire the way he genuinely listens to them. "Thank you for your support." He nods.

"What are your names?" I ask.

The brunette one, who I assume is the spokesperson of the group as she is the most extroverted, begins to speak again. "My name is Heather, this is Bri, Katelyn, and Jasmine." She says, pointing to each one in the group.

"Lovely to meet you all! Would you like a picture?" Niall asks.
