Chapter 56
Niall's POV // I Need You | part I

The drive up to our little mountain getaway was perfection.

We blared music, taking turns to play DJ and even playing a little game of guess the song before the first line, which was fun.

On one of her turns she made a point to play our song. I didn't even need to wait for the first line, I knew it from the first note.

Having the car filled with her laughter is everything to me. I love having her with me.

I don't want to think about watching her board a plane to Nashville on Monday.

I need her.

But I could never ask her to just stay with me. That's too much to ask.

She was just as surprised as I thought she would be when we pulled up outside of our secluded cabin.

Her jaw was practically on the floor and she was speechless as she explored the entire place while I brought our bags in.

This is perfection.

She asked me to make a fire in the living room, so I tested my boy scout abilities and finally managed to warm the room.

She cocooned herself on the couch, not being one for cold weather, and begged me to stay with her but I insisted I was going to make her dinner first and then we could cuddle for the rest of the night.

The cabin was a pretty open floor plan downstairs, so I could see her from the kitchen. The bedroom is upstairs in a large loft looking out over the rest of the house and the large window with the most picturesque view of the falling snow that started a few minutes after we arrived.

I love watching her watch the snow fall. She's peaceful.

I've seen her have a lot of turmoil since I met her, but all I want to do is take care of her and show her all the love I can and make sure her heart never gets broken again. I don't want to see her hurt.

She's given me her heart, and I have sworn to myself that I won't ever break it apart.

I kept getting distracted when I was supposed to be cooking, but I just couldn't help myself. I can't get enough of her.

When I finally focused my energy on finishing a delicious meal for her, I returned to the living room to find her softly sleeping on the couch in her little cocoon.

I kiss her to wake her up and she smiles against my lips before responding with hers and her palms against my cheeks.

I pull back and watch as she sleepily paws at her eyes and smiles at me.
