Chapter 38
Evie's POV // Worst In Me
A few days have passed since Niall left. The distance not getting any easier, but the coping more manageable as we stay in constant communication whenever we're both awake.
Niall FaceTimed as promised, the second he landed. The look on his face was pure delight as he realized I was in his hoodie. He was quite pleased with himself and his little surprise. No complaints from me.
We talked briefly before he regretfully had to end the call, promising to call again when he got home. Which he did, and has done every morning and every night since then.
We leave for Australia tomorrow morning, giving me approximately 15 days before I see Niall and while that seems like a huge span of time to me now, I know it will be here before I know it.
Niall and I's morning FaceTime call went way longer than it should have, which now leaves me packing a little frantically —it was worth it though.
Packing is only half of my worries at this point, as my passport is nowhere to be found.
"Nora?! Have you seen my passport? I can't find it anywhere!" I yell through the house as I frantically overturn everything that isn't nailed down.
My sister in her calm demeanor waltzes into the living room, past me —hurricane Evie, and picks up the stack of papers on the coffee table flicking through a few envelopes on top and then triumphantly hands over the little blue book.
"I swear I looked there already." I sigh in relief.
"You know Ev, it is possible to remain calm while packing for a trip. It's actually easier if you do." She teases.
"Easy for you to say! You have been a world traveler since you turned 16! You just got back from traveling the world for a year straight. You're a pro! I'm an amateur...cut me some slack."
Nora laughs at me, flopping on the couch while she watches me pack my carry on.
"You'll have to get used to traveling eventually. I'm sure your superstar boyfriends will help you learn the ropes." She giggles as I cut my eyes over at her.
"I just want to make sure nothing goes wrong." I say, avoiding her other comment. This is a typical desire of mine as I usually want to be able to control whatever situation i'm in. Management isn't just a job, it's a lifestyle.
"What could possibly go wrong?" Nora says sarcastically. "You're going to a foreign country for work with your boss slash best friend and his friend slash your ex. I don't see where anything could go wrong."
"What are you talking about?" It's just me and Beck and the team." I correct her, hoping to everything that is holy that i've misunderstood what she just said. I have this sickeningly eerie feeling that she knows something I don't.
