Chapter 39
Evie's POV // No Tears Left

Friday morning rolls around quickly and similar to a few nights before, my pre-flight night of sleep was pretty much nonexistent.

I avoided Beck's calls yesterday, substituting them for text messages and an excuse of being 'busy'. Frankly, I was just avoiding him because if I had answered his called it would have lead to me giving him more of my mind than I needed to. I needed the rest of yesterday to cool off and prepare to deal with this situation with a clear head.

As per usual, I texted Niall while I was trying to fall asleep but as time ticked by and sleep never came I gave up and decided to call him and chat.

"What's wrong, love? What's got you up?" Niall asks, looking lovingly through the screen at me.

"Oh ya know..." I sigh. "Just the fact that Beck went behind my back and invited Jaxon on the trip with us, without telling me."

"What?!" He says, shocked.

"I'm just really annoyed, but I'm planning to keep my distance and just get through the next 2 weeks so I can come see you." I explain, smiling at the end.

"Sounds good to me." He winks. "What do you want to do while you're here?" He asks, trying to get my mind off of the topic at hand.

We talk for the next hour and a half about what we plan to do when I visit him, and I struggle all the while not to give away my surprise for him.

"Ok, love...I've got to get ready to go to a meeting, and if I did the math right you have to get ready to go?" Niall asks.

"I do. I was hoping it would go away if I avoided it." I chuckle halfheartedly.

"Go be amazing as always, so you can come see me and have some fun. I miss you and I need you with me." He says sweetly, reminding of our morning before he left.

"I love you, Niall."

"I love you more, Ev." He blows a kiss, and I blow him one of my own.

We exchange "See you soon"s before disconnecting the call to get ready for our days.

I take a shower, spending far too long standing under the steaming hot water in an effort to relax my tired muscles and wash away the stress. I don't bother putting any effort into my hair, leaving it down to air dry and style itself however it sees fit. I forego makeup as well to let my skin breathe on the flight.

I get dressed in the comfiest outfit I own. Leggings, a loose black t-shirt, and the faithful light blue hoodie that makes me feel like Niall is with me. It still smells like him and i'm dreading the day I have to wash it.

I throw on my glasses and complete the look with a hair tie on my wrist for later, and i'm ready to go.
