Chapter 44
Evie's POV // She'll Jump On That Flight...

An hour and a defeated effort to find a plane ticket to the UK later, I climb into the back seat of a taxi that's taking me to our hotel. Beck and Jaxon will follow in another taxi, as soon as Beck finds Jaxon that is. In an international airport i'm sure there are a plethora of airport bars to choose from, who know's which one he's in.

All immediate flights for the UK were booked solid for the next 24 hours. They put me on a waitlist and said they would notify me as soon as possible, but the woman didn't look to hopeful of anything opening up.

One bright side, is that as I arrived at my hotel I was welcomed to my hotel room with a king sized bed and a surprise bouquet of roses from Mr. Horan himself. Glad I didn't miss that surprise.

I think I could get used to having a boyfriend who surprises me with flowers and notes all the time...oh and ya know, truly loves me.

After a nap and a shower I called him that night to catch up and discuss the awful time I had on the flight. His feelings for Jaxon reflecting mine and not improving in the slightest.

I decided not to tell him about our efforts to get me to the UK. If a plane ticket comes through, I will be able to surprise him...if not, only one of us will have gotten our hopes up.

"You look good..." Niall commented after our FaceTime call connected.

"You're a liar." I chuckled at his compliment when I knew I looked anything but.

"Well, you always look good to me." He winks. "But I know you're sad right now... tell me." He prompted, looking carefully at me.

"He tried to talk to me on the plane." I said quietly.

"How'd that go?"

I locked my eyes on my folded hands in my lap as I considered what to tell him next.

Honesty, Ev. Just be honest.

"He wanted to know if you really loved me." I said tentatively.

"Did he now?" Niall asked quietly after a silent pause.

I nodded, deciding not to look at him until i've explained everything.

"He said if I truly believed you did then he would leave me alone. And then he started rambling about how much he'd screwed up..."

"Which he did." Niall interjected.

"Which he did." I repeated. I pause, looking at my lap and chewing on my lip.

"What else did he say?" Niall asks gently.
