Chapter 37
Evie's POV // As You Walk Away

It takes less than 3 seconds for people to start screaming our names once the car door is opened.

Basil and Mark come quickly to our sides, leading the way inside as camera flashes go off like land mines all around us.

I've been with Beck during paparazzi shoot outs, but...it's different when you're Niall Horan or his girlfriend. And it's a a largely different feeling to be the one they are screaming for and taking pictures of, instead of the manager of someone.

The times Niall and I have met fans while we have been out together have been really nice, but it's different when it's paparazzi who just want pictures of you to make a buck. Especially on days that you wish you didn't have to live in the first place.

Niall's fans know my name, and I don't mind because for the most part they are all lovely. But these paparazzi screaming my name gives me a weird cringe-y feeling.

Once we're safely inside the airport a couple genuine fans run up to Niall, asking his security team if they can have a picture with him.

Niall who hasn't let go out my hand since stepping out my front door an hour ago, looks at me regretfully seeking approval. I nod my head, releasing his hand and stand back smiling as he interacts with his fans.

He takes a couple pictures and sign a couple things for the girls before sending them off with hugs and returning his grip on my hand.

We walk around a corner and we both turn to look at each other at the same time. Even with as sad as we both are today, this spot brings the widest of smiles to our faces remembering the moment we first saw each other here. This is where we started it all.

We are lead to a private terminal where they would be waiting for their flight to leave. I typically wouldn't have been allowed in, but because Niall is Niall —here I am.

This is it.

My eyes have been welling with tears since we stepped out of the car, and the closer we get the harder it is to keep my resolve. I feel like i'm about to break down.

His team stands a good distance away, giving us privacy.

Niall turns me to face him, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me as close to him as possible. We don't say a word, but after a moment his lips are on mine saying more than words ever could.

"If we don't say goodbye, will it be any easier?" I ask him, half joking and half serious in an attempt to stop the pain that I already feel in my heart.

Get it together Ev. You're not breaking up, he's just going to London.

"I don't think so, but it's worth a shot." He says and we share a half-hearted laugh.

"I love you." I say, looking directly into his eyes.
