Evie's POV // Come Away With Me

As the weekend came, Maura was off for her meeting in Dublin and Niall and I decided to continue our rounds to his dad's.

Meeting the second set of parents didn't scare me nearly as much and all I felt as we arrived on their doorstep was excitement to meet the man that helped shape Niall into the man that I love so much.

Bobby and Aoife were delighted to have us, and utterly surprised that we would show up out of the blue. The three days we spent with them were quiet and relaxing. Aoife and I hit is off as we spent our mornings just the two of us, drinking coffee and chatting about our Twitter readings for the morning.

But as I lay here having just woken up wrapped in the comforting warmth of Niall's bed with him sleeping softly on the other side of me, I think back to the conversation I had with Bobby a few days ago.

After dinner one night we were all busy in the kitchen doing the washing up when Niall's dad offered me a cup of perfectly made coffee and invited me to join him on the back porch.

"Beautiful night, isn't it?" He asked once we were seated in our respective rocking chairs.

"It is." I responded with a smile on my face, but a small surge of nerves at the thought of the conversation I assumed we were about to have.

"It's great to have you here, Evie." Bobby spoke up after a moment of quiet. He's a quiet man, and while that isn't often Niall's personality he does pick up this trait when something is on his mind.

It makes me smile when I see similarities of his parents shining through. It's like i'm able to make a connection. I'm able to know one more thing about him and it makes me understand him a little bit better.

"Thank you for having me." I smiled, blowing on the steam floating above my mug.

"Of course." Bobby confirmed, giving me a gentle smile.

He eyed me for a second, thinking how he should say what was on his mind.

I held my mug in my lap and kept my eyes focused on it as I waited for him to speak.

While both of Niall's parents welcomed me with open arms, I knew I would have some questions to answer at some point or another. I got the feeling Bobby was going to be the one to ask them.

I didn't feel offended by this, if anything this is what I expected from the beginning. I expected to come in and be interrogated in a sense before they simply welcomed me to the family.

It's reasonable for them to have questions about the girl their son claims to be in love with after only a couple months, especially with Niall's position as I have no doubt that I am not the first girl to be here. I know for sure there have been girls before me that were here for what he could do for them and not because they truly loved him. That breaks my heart, but once again they had to leave so I could be here with him now.
