The first reaction would be their mouths hanging open, not believe what you just said. What do you mean you like one but don't want to hurt the other? Why not just go for the one you love? Yes, it might be selfish but they didn't know who you liked so whatever small chance there was for it to be them, they were grabbing onto it. Depending on who you were talking to, he might throw a tantrum. Both of them would probably try to talk to you (with a little voice raising but not meant in a bad way). It was their way of coping with it, trying to get the answer and trying to understand. Don't be mad at them if they don't talk to you for a while. The best you can do is leave them be, have them cool then and don't tell who you actually like. That would only turn into a fist fight between the brothers and the one who you didn't fell for would punish you with death stares and even more silence. Over time, they will learn to live with in and eventually get over it.
