It is quite simple really, Harry Holland and Essie Mulligan met through Instagram, you know, it's quite cliché but they didn't care. It is the simple things in life that matter to them most from simple photographs to the sun setting over acres of si...
Since the disappearing incident, Harry had become more protective over his girlfriend and continued to apologise for days following. Despite Essie telling him that it was not his fault, Harry would not listen. Every given moment that he could he would slip in a small "I'm sorry", and kiss her cheek gently. Essie would shake her head at him and hug him tightly, telling him to "shut [his] bloody tea-hole!"
Nikki, having enjoyed meeting Essie despite the given situation, suggested that the boys and she reside at the family home so that way Paddy could see them all. Also so that Nikki and Dominic could get to know Essie better. At first Harry was objective, he knew Essie was awkward around his parents for the fact that she had met them after going missing but nonetheless finally agreed to it when Essie said it would be nice and the fact both Tom and Harrison would not let him stay at their house without them being there.
Initially Nikki would have liked Essie to stay in the guest room rather than in the twins' room, but after everything she rethought and came to the conclusion that perhaps it was best that she let her son and his girlfriend share a bed, after all they had already down so previously and the fact Sam would be in his bed only a few metres away so nothing would happen.
It was the thirteenth of February now. One day before the twins' birthday and Essie was still at a dead end as for what she would get them. Harry and Sam were at school and Essie was in the living room playing with Tessa whilst Harrison, Tom and Tuwaine were at the gym.
"What's up, darling?" Dominic asked her noticing a frown on Essie's face.
"It's the twins' birthday tomorrow and I still haven't got them anything. I don't know what to get them." She sighed, stroking Tessa behind the ears.
Dominic chuckled, "they wouldn't care if you got them nothing. Sam would've fine with a simple 'happy birthday' and as for Harry, just having you with him would be enough."
"Yeah, so that may be, but I want to get them something. They deserve it." Essie explained, biting her lip in question.
Dominic placed his newspaper down beside him on his armchair. He ran a hand through his hair and chewed the inside of his cheek. "Do you have a price range?"
"Not really," she shrugged just as Tessa climbed off of her lap and shuffled over to the dogs bed on the floor. "I just want something they would like."
"Have you had any thoughts?"
"There's a hoodie I have seen that I think Harry would like but I'm not sure for Sam."
"What about a hoodie as well? He liked swish store a lot."
Essie smiled, "thank you so much. I'll head off into town to have a look for some other things. Is that okay?"
"Will you be okay on your own? I know you're old enough but I am happy to come with you so we can go by car and that way I know you're safe and stuff."
Essie blushes in embarrassment, "do you mind?"
"I wouldn't have offered otherwise, Nikki is in town anyway and I will be picking her up anyway so we can go and meet her." Dominic stood up and stretched.
"Okay, thank you for this."
"No problem, darling, it'll be nice to get to know you some more."
