Suddenly, you and Todoroki both froze, staring at the door when you guys heard hard unexpected pounding...it didn't sound like Fuyumi coming back to check on you two.
"Shoto, open up." You heard a deep and demanding voice call out that you didn't recognize.
"Who's that?" You whispered, lowering your head and shooting the bi-color eyed boy a puzzled look.
"My father." Todoroki replied coldly, his once blank stare had morphed into a malicious glare and his hand balled into a tight fist.
It was hard to believe that his heterochromatic eyes could narrow even more, but they did as soon as another set of knocks were heard, causing the ever growing chilling intensity that surrounded Todoroki to fill the whole room.
You shuddered, his entire demeanor was so different from the Todoroki you've gotten to know.
"Endeavor?" On the inside, you were ecstatic about the #2 Hero, but obviously there was tension between the father and son, so you wanted to tread carefully on the subject of their rocky relationship.
"Yeah...it looks like he came home earlier than expected." Todoroki's words were practically dripping in venom.
Earlier this week, Todoroki told you that you could come over his house everyday after school since his dad would be gone, attending to his Hero duties. It was then when he mentioned his dad that you became curious about his mom since he didn't talk about her.
But at the time, you chose not to pry since his parents seemed like a sensitive topic, according to his short replies and how cryptic he had been about his family in general. But ever since you began going to his house, you managed to get acquainted with Todoroki's older sister, Fuyumi, and his older brother, Natsuo.
Todoroki also mentioned his eldest brother named Toya, but didn't go into any further details about him.
You thought it would be best not to ask about his family for now and let him open up and tell you at his own pace, when he was ready. After all, you hadn't told him about your own family history, so maybe it was fair for you not to know about his. You were about to get up to open the door, but the feeling of a firm grip on your shoulder made you stop. You looked over your shoulder, seeing that Todoroki had his sharp gaze fixated on the wooden sliding door, making you gulp at what was about to go down.
"I'll take care of him." Todoroki's jaw clenched, his eyebrows becoming tightly knitted.
You felt the tension relieved from your shoulder when he left to step outside to speak with his father.

A normal person wouldn't have been able to hear much of their conversation from beyond the door, but because of your cat hearing, you could clearly hear every word.
You rested your head in your hands, pursing your lips. You didn't want to be nosy, but the curiosity got the best of you...it always seemed to.
"Wasn't expecting you home so soon." Todoroki greeted the #2 Hero with a cold-hearted glare.
