Your eyes slowly opened and you blinked a few times, confusion setting in as your eyesight easily adjusted to the dimly lit room after peering out the window and seeing it was dark outside now.
It took you a solid minute to realize that you were in Todoroki's room...in his bed, nonetheless.
You tilted your head, after feeling and seeing said owner of the room stir on the chair next to you, his head resting on the bed with his eyes closed. You couldn't help but smile and admire his peacefully sleeping form. You knew you probably shouldn't have, but your hand reached towards him, tenderly running through his beautiful two tone colored tresses.
"Mmm y/n, you're awake..." You heard Todoroki mumble in a sleepy voice, letting out a soft yawn while gradually lifting his head, making you retract your hand.
It took no more than a few seconds after that for him to fully snap out from his drowsy state, eyes widening and jolting up in his seat, and without thinking, took your hand in his.
"I'm so sorry, y/n. I never should have attacked you like that. I was trying so hard not to use that side like my father wanted me to, but I ended up hurting you anyways...and I just can't seem to forgive myself." In his eyes, he had hurt the one person he had quickly grown to care about the most.
"But...I forgive you. Even I told you to use your left side, but clearly there's more to it than that..." You slipped your hand away from his, his lip tightening into a frown until your hand quickly cupped the side of his face, where his burn mark was. "I just think you owe me a little explanation is all..." The corners of your eyes crinkled, smiling softly and tenderly caressing your thumb in a small side to side motion against his cheek.
Todoroki was caught off guard by your words and actions, his expression closed up when you pulled your hand away but then he nodded once he got lost in your inviting and warm gaze. With lowered eyebrows and hesitant to start, he drew in a short audible breath, proceeding to tell you all about his parent's Quirk Marriage, the abuse his mom suffered from his father, how he was raised separately from his siblings as a tool to surpass All Might, and how his mom gave him his burn mark and where she resided now.
If this was a comic, he'd be the main character. That's the kind of backstory he has... You thought, your forehead puckering while resisting the urge to let your lips turn down since you didn't want Todoroki to see the sadness in your eyes.
It was heartbreaking to hear about his troubled past, making you briefly think about your own past with your father.
"But you know what, Shoto?" Your voice had sounded softer and weaker than you were anticipating for it to come out.
He had a serious expression, his eyes slightly glossing over after telling you everything, but then his head bowed slightly, gesturing for you to go ahead and finish your thoughts.
"I think you're already a Hero...because the fire inside you burns brighter than the fire around you!"
