"Jayda when are you and Herb gonna get married ? It's been so long ! I'm ready to be a bridesmaid." Tiara said to Jayda
"Girl I'm waiting too..whenever the time is right though. Too much has been going on." Jayda said
We were at a lil "annual family bbq" with a mixture of Jayda's family and my family..so of course everybody asking questions and being nosey.
"Jayda I just say y'all better elope , and get it over with. You know? Like who needs a fancy wedding anyway? Buying a $6,000 dress for ONE day . Like really?" My aunt Nina said
"Ooo Girl bye ! My baby Jayda is having a big wedding! She's my FIRST child to get married. We need something big , beautiful & extra !" Jayda's mom Said
"Woahhh ! $6,000 for a DRESS?!" I said while smacking my lips.
All the women looked at me in disgust. "Herb hush! You spend thousands of dollars on a pair of shoes you only wear ONCE ! Plus this is a special occasion! Jayda deserves the best. Doesn't she?" My mama said
I rolled my eyes "of course she does mama , but d*mn. Aunt Nina is right..who needs a huge wedding anyway Jayda?"
Jayda rolled her eyes & kept quiet.
My mama spoke up
"Herb stop being so selfish ! Jayda deserves extraordinary! Because that's what she is!"
Jayda sighed and got up to get something to drink.
Jayda POV Whew .. I HAD to get away from everybody . It was just too much wedding talk & everybody kept saying what they thought was right , but didn't even give me a chance to speak...like it's my wedding too is it not?
Maya got up and walked over to me. "Hey boo. You okay?" "Honestly? No Maya. It's so much being thrown at me at once.." She sighed "I know Jay, but at the end you're gonna be so happy. $6,000 dress , big wedding , small wedding , eloped ...doesn't matter. As long as your spending the rest of your life with your soul mate , and Herb is your soul mate."
"I hate how right you are." She smiled "I know. Now come on.."
I got up & went to sit back down by Herb. Leilani was playing with her cousins & Kamari was being held by My mom. Honestly... this is great. Herb's and I family might be wild , but they're so supportive & loving ...& I love them..
"So Jayda..big wedding?" My mom said "No Jayda ! Get eloped boo! It's better for the soul" Herb's aunt Nina said
"Nah Jayda...do whatever you wanna do. It's your wedding mama..." Herb said with his hand on my shoulder.
Everybody nodded in agreement & went back to doing their own thing. I pulled out my phone & texted Herb. Even though he right beside me. I ain't want nobody to hear what I had on my mind.
