Chapter 2

9:46 AM | Wellston Private Highschool

'Why does the school hallways feel so empty today? It's not even class-time or anything... so where did all the students go?'

Elaine thought to herself while walking in the lonely hallways. Wondering where all the students went off to, she suddenly noticed Cecile standing at the end of the hallway leaning her back against the wall

Cecile? I don't usually see her out at the school hallways, she's usually handling the press

"Good morning Elaine, how have you been?"

Cecile waited in the hallways with her back leaning against the wall, arms crossed. The last time they interacted with each other was at the turf war when Remi dethroned Cecile from Jack, back when Seraphina was still Wellston's Queen

"C-Cecile? What are you doing out here?"

"I just wanted your help. Mind if you just follow me for a second?" Cecile asked, but with a rather demanding voice

"S-sure" Elaine nodded in agreement, knowing that she didn't have a choice regardless

Cecile wants my help? But why?...The only time people needs my help is if they're injured... but she's not even injured... Something feels really off today

...

After Elaine was trailing behind Cecile the whole way, they stopped at a certain door to a classroom

"We're here" Cecile opened the door. The classroom seemed vacant but there was one certain student Elaine didn't expect "Here she is"

 Elaine's expression changed suddenly. Her eyes snapped wide open realizing the fact that these two high-tiers were working together

"J-John? Wait you two are working together?" Elaine asked terrified "and y-you're injured?"

John sighed. He didn't want to hear anything what's coming out of Elaine's mouth "Can you just shut up and activate your ability?" He demanded

Elaine hesitated for a bit... John was starring down into her eyes fiercely, a sight that she couldn't forget. Elaine gave in and nodded in agreement, and activated her powers. After a short while, John's eyes were glowing gold, manipulating Elaine's aura into his own

"H-how come you're injured?" Elaine asked, hoping that she can get some answers out of him, but as expected... John didn't respond

John healed his own injuries with the powers that I just gave him. He healed it faster than I could've done with mine. After that, the two high-tiers told Elaine to leave them alone

10:03 AM | Infirmary

"NO!" 

Remi found herself screaming in the infirmary bed with her eyes wide open, only to realize that she just woke up after being defeated by Joker

Huh? Did I... Did we lose? What happened to the rest?

I took a glimpse to my side, and to my horror... I saw all my friends all lying in bed already awakened before me, with bruises on their bodies. Their eyes were focused towards Remi from the sudden scream

"Remi... Are you okay? You had a nightmare or something?" Said Blyke with a face of worry. Remi was still panting furiously, until she finally regained her composure to respond

"Blyke? And Arlo is here as well?... No I'm fine, it's nothing. Are you guys alright?"

Arlo, who just got dethroned back down to Jack sighed "Yeah we're fine. You're the one that got the worst beating though. You got kicked in the back of the head and slammed to the ground" said Arlo with a defeated expression

"So that's that huh? We lost horribly... didn't we? What are we going to do now?" I asked hopelessly

"There's nothing we can do... Now that I lost my authority as King, the school probably wouldn't listen to me the same way they used to anymore" Said Arlo halfheartedly. Blyke clenched his fists tightly

"Dammit! Why does he even do these things? does he just like beating people for fun??" Said Blyke furiously

"No it's not like that Blyke..."

Said Remi halfheartedly. Deep down, she knew that wasn't the reason why John decided to brutally defeat them. John had the right reason to treat us the way he does. It's just a shame that they couldn't reason with him. "Arlo, I actually talked with John yesterday... He actually made some decent points... but it's just his way of doing about it is concerning"

"What?!" Arlo shouted, not believing what Remi just said "You talked with John? What did you two talked about?" 

Remi remembered what John said about his brother and the state of the school "Then why doesn't Arlo run the school the same way your brother did?" 

"You know Arlo? Why didn't you run this school the same way my brother did? Wasn't the school better that way?" Remi asked, but Arlo sighed in a disagreeing manner

"Remi... don't get me wrong, I do highly respect your brother. But the way he does things were wrong. Higher-tiers only acted nice when Rei was around, but the second he leaves they go back  to their usual personalities. Yes... your brother did have good intentions and I would've supported it if it all worked out, but it just didn't. Higher-tiers hatred towards low-tiers only grew more and more" Arlo seems really genuine with his words this time which Remi rarely saw out of him

"Did you talked to John about Rei?" Arlo asked

'Is it really that hard to run this school?' Remi thought to herself, realizing that for all this time, she didn't steer the school's system into the right path. A failure as an example

"Yeah... I proposed a solution by telling him the way my brother ran this school, but he didn't take it very well... He actually said similar things about him like you just did"

*creak* Someone was suddenly entering the infirmary. The royals turned their head to the person that just walked in

"Seraphina?"
