John's POV

"So what would it be, John?" The barista asked, taking my order

"Get me my dad's usual... I don't know anything about coffee"

"Your dad usually order an Americano. Are you sure?" The barista asked awkwardly, signaling that I would probably regret it

"Yeah... it's whatever"

I waited at the drink counter where people usually grab their drink after it's being made. It's different compared to Woaba Boba where the waiter serves the drink to your table

*ring.. ring.. ring*

The bell that was attached to the entrance gate rang. I took a glimpse... and saw a mint-haired girl along with her ruby eyes. Her hair short enough that it barely touches her shoulders. Entering the café with her eyes on her phone

C-Claire? Of all times... does it really have to be now? She... she seems more mature, and taller. Taller than Sera at least

Thankfully, the café is a bit crowded, making me not stand out from her sight. I should leave once I get my drink....

"One Americano!" My drink arrived at the counter

Shit... It's in a cup?! I can't leave the café with this! I should've ordered a takeaway goddammit....

I took my time to look for a chair where people don't usually sit at, and noticed a line full of chairs with a no-lean completely vacant which I took

After that.. I just sat there staring at the view in front of me by the window, recalling all the time I spent with the girl that was also here

From the looks of it, she seems to be doing well... as if she's already moved on from our disturbing past. Unlike me, who's still dwelling on it

Suddenly, the mint-haired girl took a seat, three chairs away from me. She knew I was here all along... didn't she?

We didn't say any words for a couple of solid seconds. All I heard was the chatters of the crowd behind our back.

But then Claire said her first words

"John, you... you seem different"

I just sat there silently still. My gaze was pointing at the cup, my blurry reflection was drawn at my drink, slowly gaining courage to reply to her

"I don't feel like I've changed"

"You have. That dark gaze you used to have... I don't see them anymore, but you seem troubled"

"Take it however you want to" I said emotionlessly "Claire... are you not afraid of me, despite of what I did to you?"

"I was shocked to see you entering this café. I thought about ignoring you... but I've decided to confront you, because if not, I feel like I'm running away from my past"
