Chapter 13: A Little Confusion

My alarm went off and I awoke to the blaring sound of the loud noise raging through the bedroom that I shared with my dear friend and roommate Bunny Blanc. She turned over in her sleep, still snoring away. She had to be up soon to get ready for our classes. I had Geografairy, I believe. Such weird names I thought. In wonderland we have weird creatures and plants, but this place has a different type of weird. All things yet to explore.

I yawned with a stretch, getting up quickly out of my bed and making it before getting dressed for the day. I went to go brush my teeth and comb out my long white locks with hints of shimmery gold. I put on a simple outfit of gold with white slippers underneath. It was comfortable and pretty, a plain look for a plain princess. I added a little bit of makeup which was only some eyeliner, mascara and a pretty wine red lip color. It looked too dark with everything else so I jut wiped it off and applied some gloss instead.

I couldn't help but still think about Alistair. Why was he so distraught about last night? I couldn't help but think it was something that I said. Was it that I was dating Dexter? I surely didn't know. Why would he be so upset about that? I was left to wonder. As usual.

Going to my first class of the day, I went to the farthest part of the classroom at the very back. Jinx was on the same row as me but two desks away. I sat next to Alistair with Raven Queen on the other side of me. She gave me a wave and I waved back out of politeness. I glanced over at Alistair who noticed my taking of his appearance who seemed to be rather distraught as he sighed, propping his chin on his hand, his arm propped up on the table supported his chin. He looked away from me with a keen uninteresting appearance.

"Alistair, please tell me what's going on? Why are you so upset?" I asked him in a whisper so the whole class couldn't hear me talking.

"It doesn't matter, Iz." Alistair told me in a final tone.

"But it does," I whispered in a hush, "You're my best friend and it matters to me."

"Bet it matters to Dexter more," said Alistair quietly. I heard Raven gasp beside me.

"You're the one dating Dex?" Raven asked me, leaning over in her seat to get closer in on the conversation. Great, now why don't we just tell the whole school?

"Yeah?" I said confirming it.

"Huh," she said thinking out her thoughts, "you know I always thought he'd ask me out. Of course I would have said yes, but I guess he's finally found a rebound to get over all — oops, I said too much."

"Wait a minute, what?" I blinked, turning toward her more profusely. "He liked you?"

"Likes me, loves me, seen him staring from across the castleteria and acted like I paid no attention. I dunno. Then again I did kinda like him back and we had that movie date which was nice not too long ago, but I really just like him as a friend. I think. You're more fitting to his type, at least. I just never thought that he'd finally get over me."

"Wait a minute," I said stopping this conversation. "He was into you? Then why did he go for me? I'm not like you at all. You're so gorgeous and confident and have this complete 'sweet-hot bad girl' vibe that's totally every guy's fantasy."

Raven Queen turned a deep shade of scarlet at the compliment, or perhaps it came off as an insult to her. I couldn't tell. She only appeared embarrassed by my comment.

With a sheepish grin she turned to me with glossy eyes, "that's probably the nicest thing anyone ever said about me. But you're beautiful too, erm. . . What's your name?"

"Isabella, But you can ca—"

"Isabella? That's so pretty. Isa is a good nickname, don't you think?" Raven Queen insisted. "Oh! You totally look like an Isa. Bella is so overrated but Isa fits you. From now on that's what everyone should call you. But I'll stop talking, I'll let you finish talking with your friend before class starts."
