Chapter 40 A smooth yet cold comeback!

Third P.O.V

Our heroes are still a Snowbelle City as a storm kicked up. Eclipse sprinted to find Leah and Gladion. "Ninetales, Nine, Nine!" Eclipse said. "Eclipse? Wait you know a place to bring those Pokémon?" Leah asked. "Ninetales!" Eclipse said as she started running further in the forest with Leah and Gladion in tow. Until Eclipse stopped in a field. "Ninetales!" Eclipse called. They walked closer as they noticed Wulfric.

A few wild Pokémon who was around him ran off at the sight of the two teenagers. "Oh, hi! It's okay, these two are good." Wulfric called out to the Pokémon. "The Pokémon here have been hiding from humans for their own reasons, this place is a secret you know." He told Leah and Gladion. "If that's the case, I'll keep quiet about this place, although we were led here by Eclipse." Leah said. "If your Ninetales knew about this place then that means, that this is the scavenging Ninetales that lives here." Wulfric said. "I assumed that Eclipse had to scavenge food in order to live in the wild." Leah said. "I see you named it." Wulfric said. "Actually that's its name." Leah stated. "A several years ago trainers would complain because a Ninetales was stealing their food so we took Eclipse in our Pokémon Village, but you know, it didn't stop it from stealing trainers' food. I told them that if Ninetales doesn't find a home, I'll have to send it to Alola for the Aether Foundation to take care of it." Wulfric explained. "We thank Arceus that it didn't ended that way." Gladion said. Wulfric examined Silvally. "That's one particular Pokémon, I've never seen one like it." Wulfric commented. "Silvally was created and tested on by the Aether Foundation when it went berserk they dubbed it a failure." Leah explained. "This one rescued my sister, but they put on a helmet that restrained its power, therefore dubbing it as a failure." Gladion explained. "You kids sure are interesting. I'm also happy to know that Ninetales has a loving trainer taking care of it. I hope to see your Pokémon's true Power tomorrow. You kids should probably return to the Pokémon center, your mother must be worried about you." Wulfric said. "Lusamine is his mom, not mine, but I like to think that she's my future mother in law." Leah said. "You like to think about a lot of things, Leah." Gladion told her. Before returning a Zoroark walked towards the two teens. "Hey there Veevee!" Eclipse said. "I see you found my trainer, I hope you're having fun with her." Veevee told Eclipse. Those interactions only came as odd noises to the trainers. Veevee then walked up to Leah and hugged her. "Veevee!?" Leah exclaimed confusingly. Veevee nodded. "I see, I hope you're having fun in the wild, Veevee." Leah told Veevee.

After this reunion, they return to the Pokémon Center only for Lusamine to lecture the two teenagers. "Yeah yeah, whatever." Leah said. "I'm going to bed." Leah said as she went upstairs in the Center's room. She tried to sleep, but couldn't, when midnight came she was still tossing and turning which kept Gladion half asleep. Leah got tired of tossing and turning and went in the bathroom.

Gladion's P.O.V

After a while, Leah stopped tossing and turning, I thought she finally actually fell asleep, but no she wasn't in the bed. I then heard whimpering coming from the bathroom, it had to be her unless Krystal or her other Pokémon are capable of crying like a human then it had to be her. I walk up to the source of the whimpering, I open the door only to find Leah wearing the hood of her hoodie, her icy blue eyes were red from crying. She eased up when she noticed that it was just me. "Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm fine." She said. "Yeah, and I'm Santa Claus, my point is you're crying so you're clearly not fine as you say you are." I told her. "It doesn't matter." Leah whimpered as she returned to bed. I followed her being that we share the same bed.

Third P.O.V

Morning came as Leah decided to challenge the gym again. "Krystal this time we are using our Z-move and Houndoom we will be using Mega Evolution!" Leah exclaimed. "Glaceon!" Krystal exclaimed. "Houndoom!" Houndoom exclaimed. They walk to the gym. Wulfric was rather pleased to see Leah battle again.

Leah's P.O.V

I sent in Eclipse 'cause I wanted to. Wulfric sent in Avalugg, switching his strategy I like it. "Eclipse use Will-O-Wisp!" I told her. Eclipse used Will-O-Wisp which burned Avalugg. "Avalugg use Ice Fang!" Wulfric told Avalugg. "Don't let it hit you use Fire Fang!" I called out to Eclipse. Both Pokémon collide, but Eclipse made the stronger hit being that it had an advantage and Avalugg's burn hurt it afterwards. Wulfric then told Avalugg to use stone edge. It used said move, but I told Eclipse to jump in order to dodge and to use Fire Blast. The impact of Fire Blast was great as it almost knocked out Avalugg, said Pokémon used Avalanche since I was too distracted to realize it didn't fainted, the move hit Eclipse and being distracted, I forgot to give Eclipse her next move. Eclipse use Flamethrower on me in response. "Okay okay sorry. Now finish this with Flamethrower!" I told Eclipse. Eclipse used Flamethrower on Avalugg fainting it. I pat Eclipse, congratulating her. "Eclipse, I want to give Krystal a chance to battle, but don't worry, I am proud of you." I told Eclipse. "Nine!" Eclipse said. I returned her in her Luxury Ball as I send in Krystal. Wulfric sent in Bergmite. "Krystal use Ice Beam!" I called out Krystal used Ice Beam, but Bergmite countered with Rapid Spin. "Clever, but I'm not done yet! Krystal, jump and use Frost Breath!" I told Krystal. Krystal jumped because Bergminte was still using Rapid Spin. Krystal then used Frost Breath dealing a certain amount of damage. I realised that this won't be an easy win if I don't use my Z-Move. Krystal looked at me as I nodded. Wulfric was willing to see what I was doing as I activate my Z-Move as I did my little speech. "Beauty can only be found in the purest of hearts as the purest of songs freezes time, our rock hard core hides our painful past as it shows eternal beauty, cold like a Blizzard we shine like a diamond use SUBZERO SLAMMER!" I said as Krystal used the Z-Move. It did a huge amount of damage, fainting Bergmite. "That was a Z-Move!" I heard Clemont exclaim. "Oh really I thought it Mega Evolved!" Gladion told Clemont sarcasm dripping from his voice. I chuckled at their shenanigans as Lillie set herself in the middle of the two boys to shut them up. "Leah has something on her mind because after a Z-Move Krystal is so drained that it can't counter attack." Korrina said. "Uh? I thought I told Ash that." Gladion said to no one in particular. Wulfric sent in Abomasnow, I kept Krystal to see if I can lay a blow on Abomasnow, but I used up my Z-Move. Wulfric mega evolved Abomasnow. And there is his snow warning ability it started hailing better for me, well for now. Abomasnow used Wood Hammer as Krystal jumped to dodge it. I then told Krystal to use Ice Beam, but it was countered by Energy Ball. Wulfric told Abomasnow to use Ice Punch dealing damage on Krystal. Without even realising Lillie told Snowy to use Aurora Veil to help me out. I nodded to thank Lillie as I told Krystal to use Frost Breath. The move hit, but didn't do the damage I wanted it to do. As Krystal jumped on my demand as I tried to go for an Ice beam only to be hit by Wood Hammer as I realised that Krystal fainted. I returned my partner in her Luxury Ball as I sent in Eclipse. Luckily Aurora Veil was still on for three more turns. The second I tried to make a move Abomasnow used Ice Punch, being that Eclipse was already drained from earlier it cause it to faint. I withdrew Eclipse as I sent in the mighty Houndoom. Without hesitation I mega evolved Houndoom. Golden Beams surrounded Houndoom as it dissipated revealing Mega Houndoom. "Houndoom use Foul Play!" I told my partner. The move did some damage, but I'm planning on using Inferno to finish this battle once and for all. Aurora Veil reached its end as Abomasnow went for Blizzard. Houndoom however wasn't that fazed about the move. "Alright Houndoom finish this with Inferno!" I told my partner as she did as I told her to do and Abomasnow was revealed unable to battle as both Pokémon reverted to their original form afterwards as I won said battle. Wulfric gave me the Iceberg Badge as I thanked him and we walked towards the Pokémon Center.

Third P.O.V

With her eight badge in hand Leah and her alolan friends can finally go home. What will happen next? Stay tuned as the journey continues!
