"What?" You finally asked.

Your best friend, Michael, had been staring at you off and on for two hours now. He kept saying your name, like he needed to say something, then saying never mind or something stupid.

"Forget it. It doesn't matter," he said.

You rolled your eyes. "Really, Michael, just spit it out."

A crease appeared between his dark eyebrows as he looked at the carpet. You scooted closer to him.

"You know I'm here for you, right? If something is bothering you- anything at all- I'm here."

He nodded, looking at you again. You gave him a half smile.

"I know, y/n. But this is... different," he told you.

This made you frown. What could it possibly be that he couldn't tell you about?

"It doesn't matter what it is. I'm willing to listen."

It was quiet for about three minutes then. Finally, he sighed and looked at you.

"I love you."

You blinked a few times. "What? I love you too?"

This was something that, being best friends, you guys had said casually several times. So you were confused.

"No, I mean like... I love you," he stated.

It took you a few seconds, then you understood with a gasp. "Oh!"

He nodded. "Yeah."

It didn't seem real. You had been crushing on him for months now.

"Are- are you sure?" Your cheeks grew warm at the question.

He nodded again. "Absolutely. You make me so happy. I feel complete when I'm with you. I tried to ignore it at first, but I can't. You're the one I see my future with. You're the one I want to do everything with."

You moved closer to him then and wrapped your arms around him tight.

"That's what you were so worried about? Michael, I love you, too."

He grinned. "Really?"

You nodded. "Yeah."

He took your hand in his and his pretty eyes met yours.

"Well, then, would you like to be my girlfriend?" He asked.

You beamed at him. "That sounds wonderful."
