chapter seven scary stories.
"Here are your menus. Your waitress, Danielle, will be right with you." The young host gave each of them a smile.
Christina and Carlisle mumbled their appreciation and watched as the young boy walked quietly back to his station. Annie cheerfully colored on the kids' menu that was handed to her along with four colored crayons.
Christina turned her green eyes towards the blond across from her, and instantly made eye contact with his golden hues. A soft smile appeared on the couples' faces before the young mother broke the silence. "So, what made you change your mind?"
Carlisle's light brows furrowed softly on his forehead. "About what?"
"About ignoring me," came Christina's answer. A light smile twitched onto her face as she watched his shoulders tense. "It's okay. I'm not mad."
"You should be," Carlisle sighed. "I wasn't being fair to you. I apologize for my behavior. It's not how a young lady should be treated."
Christina almost wanted to roll her eyes, but she kept it to herself. Instead, she continued to smile softly at the male across from her.
"If you must know," Carlisle continued. "I missed talking with you."
The brunette's soft smile dropped at the sudden sincerity that laced Carlisle's voice.
"I can't seem to stay away from you." The blond doctor's voice lowered an octave. "I've spent my days thinking about your presence more than you would know."
Christina's eyebrows narrowed slightly. "Why would you try to stay away?"
Carlisle sighed as he leaned back in his seat. His golden hues looked towards Annie, who was still coloring very carefully on the paper in front of her. "Can you trust that I will tell you all of my reasons one day?"
"I'm guessing today's not the day," Christina sighed, making the doctor nodded his head. "Alright, so I'm on a need-to-know-basis."
"Until further notice, yes."
Christina's green eyes narrowed very slightly. "You better be worth trusting, Dr. Cullen."
A twitch of a smile appeared on Carlisle's face at the brunette's attempt at an intimidating glare. "I wouldn't dream of misusing your trust, Miss. Swan."
