chapter seven december.
"Bella, could you get the door?" Christina called over her shoulder as she took out the ham from the oven. She cursed as the pot hit her wrist, making her skin sizzle from the scorching metal. She waved her left hand around to cool it off as the front door knocked again. "Bella!"
When the mother got no answer, she groaned under her breath before walking towards the front door and opening it. She furrowed her brows at the postman standing awkwardly at the doorstep. "Can I help you?"
"I have a package for..." he paused as he looked down at the card on the box wrapped in red paper. "Annabelle and Christina Swan?"
She opened the door wider before grabbing the box from his hands. "Do I need to sign anything?"
He shook his head. "No, ma'am. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas," she muttered back. She stepped back into the house as she looked down at the present in her hand. She quickly recognized the handwriting from the last mysterious present. She sighed as leaned the box on the back of the couch.
She never told Bella or Annie would the present was from on Annie's sixth birthday. She knows that she couldn't say anything to Bella about Rosalie's gift because it would bring Bella into another episode of angsty depression— and could start an argument over Rosalie still contacting her and Annie.
She wanted to tell Annie who it was from but wasn't sure if it would make her upset that she couldn't be there— and instead delivered a present.
"Sorry." Christina turned her head to see Bella walking down the stairs, her hair wet from her recent shower. "I was in the bathroom."
Christina nodded her head. "That's fine." She lifted the present before putting it under the tree next to the rest of the presents that Annie got. No one in the family would know the difference.
"The Clearwaters should be here soon," Christina said over her shoulder as she walked back into the kitchen. She didn't receive an answer, but she knew that Bella heard her.

"Hello, hello! Merry Christmas Eve!" Harry Clearwater shouted as he walked through the front door. He held a small present in his hand with a large grin; Sue right behind him with a soft smile as she greeted Christina with a hug.
"I brought a homemade apple pie," Sue said, holding out a covered plate.
"That's awesome. Just what we needed," the young mother took the pie from Sue's hands. "Merry Christmas."
Sue ran her hand through Christina's hair. "Merry Christmas, dear. How are you?"
Christina nodded her head slowly as both mothers walked into the kitchen; the living room becoming loud with Annie's cheer about seeing Seth, and Harry and Charlie's exclaims about the football game. Bella and Leah were leaning against the den's wall, watching the scene unfold.
"I'm alright."
Sue raised her eyebrow at the young girl, easily seeing the dark circles that rested underneath her eyes.
Christina sighed. "I'm trying, y'know?" She placed the pie on the center of the counter. "It's hard to heal when you have to take care of your daughter and sister." Christina glanced into the living room, making sure that none of her family was listening in.
Sue nodded her head. "You know you're always welcomed over our house if you need to get away, right?"
Christina smiled sadly. "My daughter comes first—"
"So, bring her with you. We have a guest bedroom," Sue insisted. She leaned her aging face against her hand. She smiled gently at Christina, the corners of her eyes crinkled showing her age more than her chiseled face. "Plus, it would be good for Leah to have a friend. You heard about the break-up with her and Sam Uley?"
Christina shook her head. She leaned against the counter as she glanced towards Leah in the living room. The twenty-year-old had a permanent glare set on her face, looking like she wanted to be anywhere but here.
"Broke up after being together for three years," Sue explained, the smile dropping from her face. "Just recently Sam started dating her cousin, Emily Young. She's feeling pretty down, and it would be good for her to have a friend."
Christina gave Sue a gentle smile. "Okay. I'll come over soon. We can make it a girls' day."
Sue smiled thankfully towards the young mother. "That sounds perfect."

I want my babies to be friends, ok?
Also, I put in a little foreshadowing in this chapter, and I'm hoping you all can guess it... let me know!
