chapter one party; part one.
"Are we sure this is a good idea?" Charlie asked as he held his coffee within his hands.
Christina smirked, enjoying her own coffee. She hopped up onto the kitchen counter, ignoring the side-eye Charlie gave her for doing so. "Trust me, this works every year."
They both waited patiently as movement could be heard coming down the stairs. Christina's smile widened as she watched Annie and Bella come around the corner; presents in Bella's hand from the brunette herself.
"Christina, this isn't fair," Bella sighed. She placed the wrapped presents down at the table. Annie excitedly joined her grandfather as she sat on his lap. "You do this every year."
"So, I don't know why you expect anything less from me." Christina shrugged.
Bella narrowed her eyes. "One year you won't be able to use Annie as a shield to give me presents. Cuteness fades."
"But the fact that she's your niece and you can't get mad at her will not." Christina hopped off the counter before placing her mug full of coffee down as well. "Come on, Bells. It's one day a year that we can spoil you. Just let us have our fun."
Bella wrinkled her nose in disgust before opening the present in front of her. Her eyes widened at the sight of the original copies of her favorite books; plus a gift card to the store that Christina had found them. "Wow, thank you, Nina. This is awesome."
"I know," she laughed. "I'm great."
Charlie laughed before pulling out the gift from himself and Renee. "My gift isn't wrapped so it doesn't count."
Bella sighed as she grabbed both gifts. Charlie had given her an unwrapped camera, while Renee wrapped a photo album for her senior year. Bella blinked a couple of times at the presents as a soft smile graced her face.
"Your mother coordinated with me," Charlie said, getting up from the chair and placing Annie down on it.
"Thanks, dad. This is actually perfect."
"You're finally a woman," Christina joked as Bella rolled her brown eyes. "You can make womanly decisions now—"
"Not too womanly," Charlie muttered, narrowing his eyes towards an innocent Christina.
