chapter nine

"Christina, I am begging you. Please don't make me go dress shopping by myself."

The young mother rolled her eyes at Bella's dramatic pled. She placed the peanut butter and jelly sandwich down in front of Annie before looking at her younger sister. "Bella, they're not even my friends."

"If you loved me you'd go."

Christina snorted out a laugh as she planted her butt on the seat across from her daughter. "You have to ask dad to watch Annie. If he can't watch her, I can't go."

Bella bit her lip before turning around and into the living room where they both knew Charlie was watching the game. Christina smirked as Bella awkwardly sat down in front of the TV and tried making small talk with their just as awkward father.

"Are you going shopping?" Annie asked, picking at the crust of her sandwich in front of her.

"Maybe," Christina muttered. "You okay with staying with Grandpa if I go?"

Annie nodded her head excitedly. "Yeah, Grandpa and I watch sports while you guys are gone. I think it's funny when he gets mad at the TV."

Christina's lips turned up into a smile. "At least one of us finds humor in it."

Bella came back into the kitchen with a smirk. "Guess your coming shopping."

"Are you sure you want to take your car?" Jessica Stanley asked as she leaned out of her vehicle's window, looking at both Swan sisters. She was a brunette with curly hair ending just after her shoulders. She had more of a curvier build than her neighbor next to her, who introduced herself as Angela Webber. She was also a fellow brunette, but with pin-straight hair and bangs that framed her purple glasses resting on the bridge of her nose.

"I'm sure," Christina was incessant. She didn't want to be stuck waiting for them if she and Bella wanted to leave early— which she was sure that they would.

"Okay. I know the directions like the back of my hand, so you can just follow me there."

The four girls agreed on the plan before taking their respectful seats and taking off down the road. It barely took five minutes of the drive before Bella spoke up.
