chapter twelve complications.
"Christina, get up. It's been three days, you can't keep ignoring life."
The mother stayed silent, even though she knew Bella was right. She was sulking, and it wasn't healthy. She just didn't know how to face the world anymore; not when everything's changed so drastically.
"Momma!" Annie ran into the room with excitement written all over her face. "It's sunny out!"
Christina managed to smile down at her daughter. "Okay, I'm up."
Annie jumped with joy. "Let's go play," she exclaimed before running back out of the room.
Christina looked back up towards Bella. "I just want to protect her."
Bella nodded her head. "Did you ever think that's exactly what Carlisle wants too?"
"Just remember, I will never hurt you, or Annabelle."
"Edward says that he's a mess," Bella continued. "He misses you, and Annie. He won't make the first move, Christina. He won't because he thinks you hate him and want nothing to do with him."
"Bella—"
"No, you need to hear it," the young brunette snapped. "This whole sulking thing is bullshit, and it's hurting both of you. So, get up and put your girl pants on. Talk to him, and get some damn answers, before you go insane."
"How?" Christina asked. It was starting to feel like she was the younger sibling asking her older one for advice. "How do I just ignore the fact that this is dangerous?"
"You don't ignore it," Bella sighed. "I know that being with Edward has risks, but I love him. I love him despite all of this supernatural bullshit. You can't ignore it, but you can accept it."
Christina bit her lip as she felt tears well up behind her eyes. "What if I'm not ready?"
Bella sighed before sitting down on Christina's bed. "Carlisle isn't going to another Johnny, Nina. He isn't going anywhere. You don't have to be afraid to love him."
A few tears leaked out of the corner of Christina's eyes. "I just can't bring anyone around Annie that's not going to stay. I can't put her through that again."
