Kairi's POV

"Is this all you want and need?" Mommy asked me while we shopped at Sam's club.

"Yeah I think so. This is more than enough." I looked at the cart she was pushing and the one Ace pushed.

"Okay. I'm just making sure. I don't want you to have to worry about groceries right now."

We're back in Tallahassee so I can move into my first apartment. We looked at a few places the day after they said they'd get me one. We found one that we all liked and now I'm moving in today.

Classes start next week and I'm super excited. I'm excited about starting college and having my own place to unwind in. Making friends, meeting new people, and new experiences.

"Can you cut it on the pda? We don't want to see that." Kaiden commented on daddy feeling up on ma. They act so young. Fast asses.

"Can you pay a bill? Get a job? No?" He asked and Kaiden stayed silent. "Alright then. Mind your damn business."

"Why are you so mean?" Ma asked and hit him. Instead of responding, he whispered something in her ear and she started to blush but that quickly ended with Imani pushing his face away.

"Kairi?" I heard from the side of me and I saw Trey. Aw hell. Not in front of my parents!

"Trey..." I awkwardly said and walked slightly away from my family to him.

"What are you doing here?" He walked the rest of the way to me.

"Shopping?" I questioned. I mean we are in a grocery store.

"I meant here in Florida." He chuckled. "You came all the way down from New York."

"I said I'm from New York-"

"Barely." Kaiden smart ass said and I smacked him.

"Shut up." I told him then replied to Trey. "I said I was from there. I've been living in Atlanta for the past several years."

Lena cleared her throat and looked up at me with her arms crossed. "Oh um this is my family. My parents, my little brother, Kaiden, my twin sisters, Lena and Lela, my baby sister Imani, and my sister Ella who you already met." I introduced everyone.

"How y'all doing? I'm Trey." He surprisingly extended his hand to shake my dad's hand, who didn't extend his hand back, then he shook my mom's hand. "I was Kairi's orientation leader."

"Oh that's nice." Mom said. "Well um Kai we're going to head to the checkout while you finish up here."

"No we not." Daddy simply said and kept his eyes glued on Trey.

"Yes we are. Come on babe." She grabbed his hand.

"You got three minutes." He pointed at me then sent a glare to Trey.

They all walked off and I stood awkwardly in front of him by myself. "So you just neglected the fact that your dad is Dave East and your mom is a goat in the music industry?"

I shrugged. "That's not crucial information to tell people to me. My introduction is about me, not my parents."

"Touché."

"Yeah." I chuckled. He and I have talked a bit since orientation. He seems really cool but I thought the same thing about Chris and we see how he turned out, so I'm keeping my guard up.
