Zane dropped the blueprint that was in his hands out of shock.

His blueprint.
"No. This can't be! No! NOOOO!" He yelled into the abyss of the hollow tree; the one that the bird —who he found out was a robot just shortly before— led him to. His knees grew weak in shock of the news, they stumbled a bit until he dropped to his knees. It was so much to process. Too much to pounder on.

He acted as though he were a regular, normal human. Sure his emotions were slightly messed up and his speech was a little proper, but passed all that, he was normal. Everyone treated him like so. He felt confused. How did he not know of this before that day? Also, that would also explain his underwater record. No human could ever beat his record of ten minutes.

Before long, the ninja came down the stairs, fascinated by the place. They called out for their friend, trying to see if he was in there. Fortunately, he was; but unfortunately, he looked sad– hurt even. They were all concerned for their friend.

"What's wrong, Zane?" Cole asked. Zane didn't say anything, except for slightly glancing at his blueprint. He then stood up, reaching for his stomach, his teammates were confused. What was he doing? "What're you-" Cole trailed off before Zane opened his stomach. It had gears and switches everywhere, to which the ninja gasped at very loudly.

"You're a...robot?!" Kai yelled.

Zane frowned at the reaction, "all this time and I never knew. The only reason why I never had a sense of humour was because my 'funny switch' was off." He then turned on the switch. He broke out singing a beautiful song, dancing around. They all enjoyed it but Jay laughed his head off. You could tell that he loved the performance and would pay every penny he had to see him do it again.
Zane finished and opened his stomach again to turn off the switch.

The guys reassured him that he was still a ninja (but better) and still part of them. They supported him and didn't think any less of him. He told them that he was relived that they were fine with it, but he still needed a moment alone. When they left, Zane slowly started to panic.
What was he supposed to tell Y/n? That she was dating a robot? He couldn't tell her. She needed to know though. She deserved to know. Zane couldn't keep secrets. He was horrible at secrets. He then thought about it.

He then figured out what he needed to do.

After defeating the Treehorns, they got back to the bounty.

Y/n ran up to Zane and hugged him. She held him really tight, but Zane didn't move a muscle- metal. His face was distraught and just in pain. "Love, are you okay? Did something happen during the mission?"

"Zane unlocked his true potential!" Jay exclaimed, more excited than Zane himself.

Y/n smiled, "is that true love?" She glanced up to her boyfriend. He wasn't smiling back like he was this morning. He exhaustedly looked into her eyes. He really didn't want to do it, he loved her. He loved her so much, but he had to do what was best.

"Darling, could I speak to you privately?" Her pet name rolled of his tongue naturally. This was going to hurt more. She nodded, putting her lips inwards hesitantly. She let go of his torso and grabbed his hand for comfort. He didn't bother holding her hand back.
He really wanted to though. He had this urge, surging through him, telling him to hold her hand. His logical side stopped him. His logical side told him that it would hurt less for her if he didn't do anything intimate.

They got inside his room, his hand completely left her hand by then. Y/n hugged herself due to the lack of satisfaction of warmth. "Love, you've been acting weird for the past three minutes. What's wrong?"

Zane sighed. He didn't know how to do this. Y/n was his first love. Everything was still fresh and new. "I love you so much, darling; but there's something you need to know." The pet name again.

She was shocked. He loved her. He loved her! "I love you too, love. What's the problem?" Her eyes furrowed in confusion, but yet adoration for him.

"I am a nindroid."

"A what?"

"I am a robot."

"You're a- a robot. You're pulling my strings aren't you," she laughed nervously to cover her shock.

Zane raised an eyebrow, "why would I pull you strings, if there isn't any to pull."

She forgot that he doesn't know any figure of speech. "You're joking."
He then opened his stomach for the second time that day. Her eyes widened in surprise, mouth agape as it lets out a small gasp, her heart beating faster from the adrenaline. He closed his stomach. She swallowed audibly, "that's not a problem. We can still make-"

"No, I need to understand myself. I need to know who I am."

"We can-"

"Alone."

Tears welded up in her eyes, her breathing a bit faster as anxiety rushed through her. "What- what do you mean?"

"I mean, we need to take a break up."

"Break up?" Her voice cracked.

Zane couldn't cry, but he felt a huge amount of sadness on him. "Just until I know where I belong. I don't want to drag you in it."

She studded closer to him, grabbing his hands, "we can do it together." She offered. She loved him too much to let him go. "Please," she pleaded, tears already down her cheeks as more come.

"I am sorry, Darling." The pet name. The one that Y/n loved, the one he accidentally kept on using. It hurt her more and more that he still used it while breaking up. He got out of her grasp and showed her to the door and let her go.

"Please, Love, no." She sobbed, eyes red, and puffy, cheeks stained, but are still getting more tears.

"I love you," he shut the door in front of her. He heard her pleads from the other side of the door. Her wailing and sobs.

"You can't do that. You can't say 'I love you' then break up!" She pounded the door. Zane slid down the door with his back, when he sat on the ground, he leaned his head on the door. She was willing to help him through this sudden news. She was willing to go through it all. Not under Zane's watch. He couldn't think about burdening her.
Not to her.
Anyone but her.

Thinking about it made his gears move weirdly; and oil dropped out of his eye resembling a tear.

The nindroid cried that night. He cried the whole night long.
