welcome to quarantine
the one solution to a problem the world simply cannot run from
we stay inside and watch instant replays of infection on every tv screen
constant coverage of the nightmare no one wants to be living yet we all watch with eyes glued
no one dares to be the one who looks away from the trainwreck
we all stare with rapt attention as the people on the television tell us about
the infections
and the bodies
and the death tolls
and the numbers just keep rising
the emergency rooms are an assembly line of chaos
bursting at every seam, unable to contain this all
pull the whole world into triage and call us the kings of disaster
now every trip to the grocery store feels like stepping into an apocalypse movie
and you can't spell pandemic without panic so shaking just comes with the territory
we hold our breath when we stand near each other, every person we see just another ingredient in this recipe for disaster
breathing has become a luxury we didn't know we were taking for granted
and coughing is a threat you don't dare speak outside of your own four walls
you've got to stay at home anyway
so sit back and watch the horror show unfold
put your mask on,
take a deep breath,
and pray you get another one
